Re: TF2 server performance issues!!!
Ouch... The new location doubles my ping from California. That might be it for me and our source servers as any large spikes will get me kicked.

Re: TF2 server performance issues!!!
nothing "possible" about it. It's a done deal. Hypernia is shutting down the facility our current source server is at, and migrating us to a higher end machine in chicago.
I just posted my trace to the IP in tracert's. run some and see how you can expect to connect.
Faster machine. Crap load more ram for some reason. bigger HD. maybe things will improve.

Re: TF2 server performance issues!!!
My understanding was what we had previously was a 150ms ping kick limit and it scanned all latency every 30 (or 60) seconds. If 1 scan came up over the limit, it logs it, if two consecutive scans come up over the limit, you get kicked. And our limit is ~150 or so, right? Ping did not have to be sustained, but just be at that level when the server scans it. Do correct me if I am wrong on this though.
So I would just have to have 2 unlucky spikes. I would coast up to the 90s or low hundreds occasionally with my former 50-60 ping previously so it does not seem that unlikely.
I'm going to call up comcast and see if they can fix the routing though. If I can just get them to route me north rather than to Georgia, I'll be golden.Last edited by QuickLightning; 09-26-10 at 02:36 PM.

Re: TF2 server performance issues!!!
So im fairly certain i've discovered the source of the lag. I'll be testing my hypothesis over the next few upcoming days.
