I got some bullshit yank around crap from their customer service that ended with being told "As long as your connection speed to our Sacramento servers is fine, this is okay"

No change in routing path. How do you guys get to someone who knows what they are talking about?

act pissed and like you know what you are talking about. Complain that to connect to Chicago they are routing you from Sacramento, to LA, to Dallas, to Atlanta, to Chicago

If the bloke you are talking to hasn't a clue whats going on, ask to speak to someone who does. And continue to do so until they put you on with the net admins.

Spent about 45 minutes on their stupid chat program repeatedly telling them the problem has nothing to do with my download or upload speeds to a server in Sacramento but they just wouldn't talk about anything else. I'll try actually calling them later.

do you have a mainstream isp? Or might it be an ISP who actually goes through another isp (im missing the proper word for this... subcontracts?)?

Comcast is pretty mainstream. I'm fairly certain their entire network is their own.

TF2 Main just got a huge bump in resource allocation, keep an eye on it over the next few days and let me know if there are any improvements

Same here, but Heavy, Medic, Pyro, and spy are still playable though.
