Why else do we put ads on the site, Defiant?

It's either to line our pockets with cash bled from user misery....or its because we have shit we need to pay for.

I still hate the ads BigDog - that won't change.

Considering that TPG is in the red, though, I don't care about the ads anymore I'm all for them if they help TPG get out of the red.

Where the hell did I friggin say you or anyone was lining their pockets?? How do you assume what the hell I'm thinking?

TPG generates revenue to pay for servers and services - that's understood. Theres a big difference between generating revenue to pay for things and generating revenue because you're in the red! If the ads were just basic revenue to help pay for things I would suggest finding an alternative but what you're saying is that TPG is in the red and that is a whole other animal all together. Being in the red - I don't mind the ads at all. Put your guns on standby man, geeze.

I hate ads as much as the next guy, but if I remember correctly; I thought bigdog said he used to pay for TPG out of pocket back when we first started. Not to mention the community is way bigger and more costly than when it was started. If having ads are what keeps BD and the other highs from having to do that again to keep servers and forums for me to play on then I'm cool with that. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Just to reiterate this point so people don't forget it. We don't gleefully throw this shirt out there not giving a shit how it will effect our daily users. We're not grabbing the green so we have more "take home". We don't do shit like this unless we've explored other options.

And whine about the text-link ads all you want.. I'll take them over slow-loading flash/animated ads any day of the week. See, I know how to control where my mouse goes, so I don't get the ads popping up if I don't want them to.

I have busy hands. My hands need to be doing something. And sometimes that something is waving the mouse around the whole screen while I read a wall of text. They don't bother me at all I just thought it was how completely random the links it gave seemed. Now I'm spending most of my forum time on tapatalk since I have anactual job so I don't know if they've improved in accuracy

Lol I've never had a problem with them. My cursor is always on the scroll bar because I hate using the mouse wheel to move down the page. I really don't think they're that bad. What I do hate is the audio enabled ads at the very bottom of the website that do not have a mute button, so when it's 3:00am in the morning and I'm looking through the NightOwl thread, it seems that someone is screaming at the top of their lungs about some shit I should buy. those ads are not approved by us, and we try to catch and ban them as much as possible. Ad networks don't always comply with the rules, especially when they fall on hard times. TPG is a no-popup, no-audio, no-obscenity ad community.

I get pop-ups everyday when on the TPG website. One for all the different cursors and two others I can't remember. Are we supposed to report these unwanted ads or do you know about them before any of the users do?

Also this seems the best place to bring this up, but at the very top of the website it looks like a pixel is missing. I thought it was just my laptop, but then I used my brothers Desktop to check the forums and saw that in the very exact spot there is a pixel missing. Any information on this?
