    Ascalonian Catacombs Dungeon

    Ok, so what did we learn in the failure of it today? I know a lot of us switched up skills partway through the dungeon. We also need to bring more food for sure. I also made a diagram of how to fight the lovers.


    At these guys we need to split up the lovers, which half the team going in on the one side and the other going in on the other side, then keeping them separated.

    For Master Ranger Nente the way he works is he starts in the middle on that pillar, then when he gets down to 75% he leaves the middle and fights hand to hand with a hammer and a pet named Fang. After you take him down to 50% he goes back to the middle pillar and does massive AoE damage so we need to spread out when that happens. At 25% he goes back to melee with a pet named Shadow.



    The other thing to remember is only one person should be opening coffins at a time at the start of the mission.

    And the Necro was incerdibly easy compared to everything else we had to fight.

    I learned that having Healing spring as my heal skill is way better then Troll Ungent. Also, we really only beat the lovers by luck, as me and Allane were taking it in turns to die, both of us arriving back from respawning just in time to keep the damage up on the Mes. Pull spells are really useful against them, but they should only be activated once both groups have fully engaged their assigned partner, as they keep the aggro they had before when you pull them. Remove condition spells are a must for whoever is engaging the Mes, as his confusion spell just destroys really fast when combined with his AoE attack. Heal ally spells like Healing spring and Blood well are more useful then self heal spells, because all the stacked regeneration does a better job at keeping up with the damage being put out by everything then self heal spells.

    We also learned that Melee is for chumps cause everything can do like enough damage to bring you down with no sweat.

    I've decided to switch from going Toughness and Power with Traits to Toughness and Vitality, because apparently that's what the necro is good at staying alive, cause that's what I was doing well being the last up. I'm looking more into skill changes I can make while in a instance, as while my normal build is pretty good for random adventuring it isn't as good as it could be for doing the instances. The other thing I learned is I probably want to get a set of level 40 armor and fill up the slots in it.

    I was running a self-crafted masterwork set of level 40 steel armor. My traits also slant towards toughness over Vitality, but I have a trait skill that puts 5% of my good Power into health.

    There's a good point on the AoE healing skills. I have one too, but I have a personal heal that's better: Mending. Heals me for just a bit less than the Adrenaline Surge I was using last night, and takes off two conditions (including poison and confusion, my two banes).

    I also have two locked skills that I can try to get: Defy Pain, which gives me invulnerability for 5 seconds with a 35 second cooldown, and Juggernaut (a tier II elite) that I want to see what it does. If Juggernaut gives me significant survivability, or damage, I'll consider using that in place of the Signet of Rage.

    Also, I was built around a casual PvE setup, stressing efficiency in little kills. I'm probably going to drop the "signets give +40 Precision" as critical hits aren't crucial in these fights. I have some other Arms traits that I can look at that might help.

    Overall, we just need to refine our skill and trait loadouts to compensate for the extended fights these dungeons provide us, Because we did prove we could beat the three bosses.

    I think you hit the nail on the head there Allane, we were all running more casual pve builds focused more on damage which doesn't work as all the fights in the dungeon are super extended fights, I know once I switched up my skills from my pve skills I was doing better. But like you said we were able to kill the bosses I think next time we'll do better.

    Ok, so we beat the dungeon today and here's what we learned:

    Taking the coffins one at a time at the start made it super easy.

    A Mesmer with the transform into a Moa skill can totally mess up the Ele's nuke at the start enough to get close and spread out to make the AoE nowhere near as bad.

    A necro in Death Shroud going in first to take the aggro with Life Transfer up is a good distraction to either let the rest of the party move in close or let the memser turn the enemies into moa.

    When someone drops they are able to rejoin if they're still in the party they just need to walk to the door and click join for the one you did as long as someone from your party is still in there.

    The final boss King Adelbern is super easy compared to the Lovers. He still damages a lot and is the second hardest boss, but if you beat the Lovers you should be able to easily beat him.

    The best order to do the 3 bosses are Master Ranger Nente, Kasha Blackblood, and finally the Lovers. The reasoning is because the Ranger is by his lonesome so you could go Kasha, Lovers, Ranger if you want but you have to go Kasha before the Lovers because you need the entrance to the Lovers room and the Teleport there from after Kasha to beat the Lovers.

    Fear is really good for separating the Lovers it makes the one run away from the other.

    3 Zucchini Bread each is probably enough for everyone to finish the dungeon.

    And Melee is not as useless as we thought with everyone using heal ally spells.

    Oh, another note. An easy way to break the lovers apart is to use something that causes fear. For thief, it's as easy as stealing from one of them, getting in between them, and using the fear skill that you always get from them.

    I've used Defy pain...TBH, the 5 seconds won't save you most of the time, but it is useful since it can break stun.
    enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
