Dust514, FPS shooter based in the EVE Online Universe, is coming to PC

This was just announced during the Dust514 Keynote addres earlier today. Dust514 has been previously PS3 only. Much to the chagrin of FPS fans and EVE fans everywhere.

However, it was just announced a few hours ago that a new property, tentatively called Project: Legion, is coming to PC bringing the EVE Online story and universe to FPS fans of the "PC Master Race".

And apparently their announcement lacked quite a bit of tact and customer relations and they have upset a large vocal portion of the existing dust fans.

Yup they basically said they will pull the plug on Dust 514 once Project Legion is fully realized.

I am now interested in Project: Legion after reading that it will be on PC and have sandbox elements.

Personally I am with you because I have nothing invested in Dust 514 seeing as how I don't own a PS3 but it is making some people who are pretty mad.

I would think the part that is making people mad is that they are going to shut down Dust 514, instead of keeping both Dust 514 & Project: Legion.

Yup and I think that is an overreaction. I know nothing about Dust 514 but the immersion and mechanics of the game can't be as in depth as Eve Online. If they were I might have some beef with their plans for Dust 514 but I can't see and FPS being that hardcore detailed of a game such as EVE.

The biggest complaint/issue is that Dust is F2P, and is built on micro-transactions. People have spent real world money on things in game, and now the game is no longer going to be supported on the "exclusive" platform they are playing it on. To top it off their items can't be transferred to the new platform either.

Well they could easily fix that by giving you some kind of benefits from being the first people to play it but I don't know.

No. That system just needs to be completely redone. With Dust, the "F2P" aspect wasn't real F2P like PoE. It was pay to win. If you wanted to be competitive in terms of fittings and earn sufficient SP to upgrade, you honestly needed to pay for the real money items and to pay for boosts. Oh, what's that? You want to chat with people outside of a battle? Got to pay for that as well. It was/is a shitty system.
