Stargate Worlds

Anyone going to look into Stargate Worlds? I know we have several Stargate fans on here. You can sign up for the beta now.

They are making the combat squad-based but not a FPS.....not sure I quite understand that. TPS? They say most combat will be at range....hmmm

Dang it Mustafah, you did NOT just bring up Stargate Worlds. I've seen atleast 2 or 3 episodes (sometimes every episode) from every season of SG-1, and have watched a lot of the new season of Atlantis. I'm not the biggest fan, but I'm a huge fan of Stargate.

I've had my eye on this game, looks pretty good, I don't know how Cheyenne Mountain's going to cope with the awesome engines such as the Unreal 3 Engine (SICK engine), the Crysis Engine, and the Source Engines. Maybe they're developing their own engine for their type of gameplay (which might not be an FPS according to Mustafah)

Should be good.

They are using the Unreal 3 engine. And it's definately not going to be FPS for the combat. release date is tentative to Fall '08.

I signed up for the Beta so I might get more info if I'm picked. Big fan, so I'll end up trying it out even if I don't get in the beta.

Fell in love with the show last summer during the whole week marathon on Sci Fi... SG-1 is one of my favorite shows and I'd love to try this game out.

I love stargate and I always thought it would be a good MMO. Its right at that bridge of Fantasy and Hi-Tech. I think it would pave the way for a Cyberpunk MMO. something long coming unless you count Neocron.

I did not realize they were doing beta signups already. I've been looking at this game for awhile and am not sure if I'll like it or not. I'm a huge SG1 fan so of course I'm interested, but it's the combat system I'm not sure I'll like, I'll have to see how it works. I'd love to try it out though and see how they are going to have it work and what races/classes you can be.

been following this one since they put their discovery document together in 2006. My ID for the community is only a triple digit number

Initial release you will be able to be one of the "Big Four" - Human, Asgard, Goa'uld, and Jaffa.

I figured as much. I was wondering if they were going to have the Tok'ra in there as well, as I think they'd make a decent healing class.

I signed up to be considered for the beta as well. I'm surprised they didn't ask for any previous beta experience as I've seen many other games ask for recently. I bet it is just to get a nice random number of people to test the game.
