Conquest is actually really fun. We had a group doing it yesterday, we won 3 territories off the bat, then we went to attack another but while we were attacking the others all of our other 3 territories got attacked and taken from us.

The game encourages large alliances like you see in Eve (aka BoB or the Northern Alliances). You need to have people ready to defend the 3 hour Conquest timers while at the same time attacking other people to expand your territories.

I can't wait to get more TTPers in there. If you are interested, post int he public section of the Disorder forums and ill hook you up with privateforum access.

I'll stop by when I actually get the game, which might not be for a month or two... money's kinda tight right now.

I didn't really enjoy Guild Wars much, but GA sounds like it's gonna be a blast. As long as the emphasis in the end-game is on the combat and not on upgrading from a Level 35 Plasma Rifle to a Level 36 Plasma Rifle, I think it'll be a total success.

I definitely like the idea of finite resources for the Conquest mode.

No problem, spirit. Hop on our vent and see if you can get a hold of me, meno, or futt to get set up.

Pizza, the assault class starts with a minigun and gets better toys as they go. Plus a ranged damage shield and a 'invulnerability for a few seconds but can't attacj' on cool downs. You start pretty tanky, and only get better with skills like +15 ranged mitigation and similar stuff. But a medic can't heal through a lot of damage, so play careful and smart

Are you guys in game. If you can, get on before 9 so we can get you on vent, in disorder, and ready for when conquest opens up at 9

How important are the different damage types? I was kinda disappointed to find out there's multiple kinds of damage instead of just one big "hey that shit will kill you" damage.

Really trying to find more information on the individual classes and how they're setup. Guess I'll have to start googling since the official site seems to be devoid of in-depth information.

Damage is broken into 5 types: Melee, Ranged, AoE, Fire, and Poison. The last two are usually DoTs, and usually lumped together (there's a skill that drops poison and fire damage by 50%, and any cure from a medic or robo med station removes both). Splitting damage into 3 distance based types fits really well, especially when you consider what it does to a game. If a tank pops his ranged shield, you have to drop it or get in close, as most AoE damages aren't high enough to really kill him. If you get into melee, he can do the same and use his alt-fire on the melee weapon to block, but it only blocks melee attacks and uses energy.

    You'll like it, trust me.

I'll give you the class info, fire any questions you have:

    ASSAULT
Assaults are your tanks and heavy hitters. You have a series of weapons ranging from various rapid fire mini-guns (Alt-fire uses less energy but makes you stationary), grenade launchers, and missile launchers (both guided and unguided--alt fire zooms). Your offhand weapons (each class has 3 offhand slots) focus on taking out hardened targets. Spider mines run after people and encourage them to leave an area. EMP grenades stun turrets, letting you walk into a robo's nest. You also have various shields for different damage types, as well as the bubble that I mentioned. It forces all turrets to attack you. You can't do anything, but you refill energy. On my assault, I would pop the ranged shield on a boss, lay into him until the shield went down and I was out of juice, then pop my second shield and continue to draw fire while the rest of the team did nasty things to him.

Your skills are broken into a balance tree (all classes have this tree), a tank tree, and a damage tree. I haven't played deep into any of them, but assaults are nasty once they start getting some skill points and get things like 15% ranged mitigation, 50% DoT mitigation, not to mention anything in the damage tree.

    MEDIC
Medics are fun, if you like a seriously chaotic experience. Your main healing comes from either a nanite gun (apply long range HoT) or beam healers. The beams are short range, the alternate fire heals about 3x what the main fire does, but eats energy. Both beam fire modes also heal you for a minor amount (enough to keep you in a fight much longer). Each heal type also has a second version that adds a damage buff to the heal, making for some very nasty assault/medic combo teams if you're good.

Medic offhands are either AoE Heals (PBAoE waves or grenades), AoE poisons (waves or grenades), and various buffs and debuffs as well as ways to remove buffs from enemies. Their skills break into balance, healing, and poison.

    Recon
Recons are nasty. I'll let Meno explain their details, as I haven't played one. You can basically go for a sniping build or a melee build, both of which get access to all kinds of things like EMP bombs, fire bombs (both on 3 second timers and good for clearing off a point), mines, various stealth options, sharp things to kill people with, the works.

Get more info from Meno on recons, I haven't played one.

    Robotics
Robos really go one of two ways. A turret build seeks to turtle up in one location and build medic station (AoE heal), power stations (AoE power regen), turrets (miniguns and rockets), and sensors (for finding recons). The other option is a drone build. Drones are basically short-duration pets that you can summon (no building like a turret) and use in a firefight. Both builds are nasty and you still have access to things like force fields (medium duration walls) and force bubbles (same thing, but an AoE bubble). These allow you to provide instant cover that your allies can shoot from behind while you build up a turret or med station.

Again, I don't know much about robo skill trees, so you'll have to get that from someone that's played one more recently.

    Questions?

Hmm there are a lot of great games coming up the next 2 months. I'm leaning towards Robotics, but Recon Sniper would be my second choice

finally a MMO game I can consider...if I still have cash after Starcraft 2/BFBC2/AvP/ME2...

    Thanks for the info Manse

Re: Global Agenda (mmorpg + fps)

    Update:

We managed to hold our first hex last night, sorta. We had one for two hours or so and held it against 3 attacks, but finally lost to a pretty nasty group. So we snagged a different hex and defended it the rest of the night. All told we were 2/2 on attacks and 5/6 on defense. Hell, the first defense, we were outnumbered 10 to 7 for most of the fight.
