Re: Global Agenda (mmorpg + fps)
They've released info on 1.3, titled Sandstorm:
Version 1.3 (named Sandstorm) will most likely be the most important milestone in Global Agenda history. Here is what we are currently working on, please remember that everything will not make it into the final version and everything is subjected to change once more testing is done. Version 1.3 is scheduled to be deployed in April (probably towards the end of the month)
We try to make most changes as incremental as possible as to no radically change the game play, at the same time we want to address what the community wants most.
Character levels and specializations:
Leveling from 30-50 will now have a lot more meaning.
At level 30+ players will be able to choose a specialization path for the character. Each class has two specializations (that match the current Skill Trees)
You can only choose one specialization which allows you additional skill points in the specialization tree and allows you to use new weapons/devices that are being introduced.
If you want to specialize in both areas and change between them frequently you will need to create and level up another character for that class.
New weapons/Device:
For each class specialization new weapons and devices are being introduced. We are trying for at least one weapon/device per slot type per class
Some examples: The Laser Sniper Rifle, The Barrage Grenade Launcher, The Claw,The Perfect Rifle, The Beacon Tracker, The Impact Hammer, The Multi-Heal Gun, The Oathbreaker Boost. There are over 50 that we are currently evaluating for introduction.
These weapons/devices will be earned in a special way using Conquest Tokens
These weapons have a minimum player level requirement ranging from 30-50
Store openings:
More stores will be open.
The Jetpack store will have two new jetpacks available that are purchased using Conquest Tokens
A new hightech UI is being introduced although not all screens may be changed to it in time for the 1.3 release.
Conquest and Mercenary Tokens:
Conquest Tokens are earned by playing/winning different parts of the game with a maximum tokens that can be earned each day. (Subscribers will get them faster since they will be able to participate in more parts of the game, but everyone can earn enough over time to get the various rewards)
Mercenary Tokens are earned by playing/winning various matches with a maximum tokens that can be earned each day. (All players earn these at the same rate)
Rewards, Loot and Crafting:
We plan on having full Armor drops as loot in PvE missions which are character bound when you get them (both Co-Op and Open Zones)
We also plan on allowing Armor crafters create upgrade kits to these Armor drops to improve their stats.
Weapon upgrades will be replaced with Upgrade Kits that allow players to improve the stat on the actual weapons (instead of overall stats)
Weapons will also drop as loot in PvE with improved stats over current weapons (which can be then upgraded with Weapon Upgrade kits from crafters)
Weapons and Armor can also be purchased with Conquest Tokens and Mercenary Tokens.
Open Zone (Warzones)
We are currently testing these zone which are large open spaces that players will join to do various missions. For the 1.3 release we plan on having open PvE zone with several different mission types as well as a PvPvE zone with several mission types and a zone win condition.
We are currently rewriting some of the Unreal 3 server to allow more players to interact in the zone. We don't know what the final number will look like yet but we hope for a minimum of 30 players in a PvE zone and 50 in a PvP zone.
This will be posted to give the community an idea of what we are doing, followed by a more formal marketing when enough it ready and we feel that it's solid.

Re: Global Agenda (mmorpg + fps)
Has Global Agenda changed a lot since then Alpha that Bunni sent out? When I stopped playing they were doing the first tests of alliances and stuff.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

Re: Global Agenda (mmorpg + fps)
The 1.3 patch went live a while back. There are a ton of changes and people who want to know about them should probably go to the official site at globalagendagame.com and read them there.
I've spent a couple of hours fiddling around with the new changes and here's some of what I've noticed:
- I'm almost certain I gained some levels while I was gone. I'm fairly sure my Robotics was in his early 20's when I stopped playing, but when I came back, he was almost 30. My Medic and Assault also seemed to be higher level than I remembered them being. I could be wrong.
- The new token system is more or less a carbon copy of World of Warcraft's emblem systems. Apparently subscribers will be issued a small number of each type (Mercenary and Conquest) each day just for being subscribers. You earn them by doing most normal things like PvP, AvA, arenas, and high-end PvE content. They're used to buy the new stuff, which includes better weapons, new weapons, and epic upgrades for your armor.
- The Device Points system has been removed entirely, and all weapons and devices have only a single rank (the equivalent of mk4 previously.) Weapons are now in four different flavors - common (white), uncommon (green), rare (blue) and epic (purple.) All of them above common gain small bonuses like extended range more damage and more health (in the case of deployables.) I really don't like the removal of the Device Poiints system.
- Every class has new weapons available after level 30 starting at level 32 with a new melee weapon and ending around level 44 with a new boost item. These new weapons aren't straight upgrades but are just different options. You can also unlock a new jetpack at level 40 which allows you to shoot while flying. You also get a new jetpack at level 1 which allows "hands-free" operation (instead of assigning a key to the jetpack and using fire to activate it the jetpack will activate automatically at the apex of your jump and will keep working as long as you hold your jump button down.) I personally think the hands-free jetpack is a piece of crap.
- The outdoor PvE zone is not in the game right now. I've heard mention of a patch 1.4 so that's probably when we'll see it arrive.
There are a ton of changes, but I'm not sure they're all positive ones. I really don't like how Global Agenda seems to be aping World of Warcraft more and more as each patch arrives. I was really hoping Global Agenda would go more in the direction of Guild Wars and the Device Points system kind of reminded me of Guild Wars (having to balance your device points with your available items, similar to how you had to balance spells and abilities in Guild Wars) but the scrapping of the Device Points system makes me think they're going for more of a grind-based MMO "experience" like what's found in most other MMOs. And quite frankly I don't think Global Agenda will survive if it goes that route.

Re: Global Agenda (mmorpg + fps)
The amount of XP required to reach each level has been modified. Players will now progress through the earlier levels significantly faster. Based on this change, players may automatically advance by several levels upon their first login following this change
Moving from Level 5 to 6 now requires 1,000 XP instead of 2,000
Levels 6 through10 now require 2,000 XP per level instead of 4,000
Levels 11 to 15 now require 4,000 XP per level instead of 8,000
Levels 16 to 20 now require 8,000 XP per level instead of 12,000
The device points were removed to make way for the new crafting/item system. Also almost all players had the same points alloted based on class. Every recon had Steath IV, Every Assault had Ranged Shield IV, and so on. It was more of a hassle than anything.
You can earn tokens on any pvp if you are eligible for a mission award.

Global Agenda going subscription free

Yes, you read that correctly. Members of the Global Agenda community received a survey recently that hinted at a change to the business model, and it looks like a decision has been made.
Hi-Rez founder and CEO Erez Goren tweeted the news just a short time ago: "Global Agenda going subscriptions free," and the information was followed up quickly with a forum post that began "Hi-Rez Studios announced today that Global Agenda is now 100% subscription free. Purchasers of Global Agenda can enjoy the game's full current content, including all current Player-vs-Player combat, Player-vs-Environment solo and co-op content, and Agency-vs- Agency seasons, without a monthly subscription payment now or in the future. Future content updates will be delivered via optional paid expansions."
