Tera Online
So there calling this one an action MMO. It sounds good and I was able to find a video that wasn't a trailor.

Thats all in game footage of a demo @ E3. It looks like a much faster pace phantasy star online, but without being able to "lock on" to your enemies. I like the idea of this game, becuase I found champions online fight system to be a lot of fun. The downside to CO was you couldn't dodge it still had same idea of evasion rolls. The ability to have full control over your avatar in battle sounds great!

There are a lot of good looking MMOs coming out and I'm not sure they will all deliver. I'm hoping at least one of them does as I really want a good, long lasting MMO that isn't WoW to play again.
This one looks promising, but so have many others.
You are right though about the combat, it seems much more PSO without the lock on and with a lot more details/abilities. Should be interesting to see how it develops.

Re: Tera Online
Combat looks fun, but I absolutely refuse to play a JRPG MMO. A berserker is an elf chick in a skimpy leather one-piece skirt with an axe that's taller and heavier than she is? Haha, no.
It also seems like they could consolidate three of those classes (Berserker, Warrior, and Slayer) into a single class and just add in talent trees, or even a simple "pick which way you want to play the fighter class" thing. Man, when you mentioned PSO, I thought that meant we'd get to see something besides swords and sorcery

Well there are 3 (or was it 4?) other classes in there as well. I'm sure one will have some sort of pet to control and other ranged attacks besides magic.
Probably nothing like a Mag though unfortunately.
I kind of like that it forces people to choose one solid roll with the classes as it seems while they are similar they all perform very different functions/attacks. It does suck though that it would seem you can't be a multi-functional class though as easily.

Re: Tera Online
It just seems like it would lead to character regret, especially if you can't switch "jobs" or whatever they're gonna call them whenever you want. I think part of the reason Diablo 2's skill tree system (and then WoW's implementation of it) became so popular is because it lets you have more than just the classes themselves - within each class, there are multiple ways of playing that all play differently, which leads to more variety and diversification within the same class.

people continue to get character progression wrong. and then try to partially fix it by throwing in respec points. It's ludicrous. You make class switching time-dependent like in Eve, so it involves no rerolls or respecs. Someone who's been playing for 5years should be able to spec in way more things than the n00b who grinded for a week to get to level cap.

Yeah, and I understand that as well. Hell I know I like performing multiple rolls and the flexibility to do multiple rolls depending on my mood and/or what is needed. From what I've seen so far though, nothing says they won't have other ways to do that or a way to change specs/rolls either in a different way.
Forcing people to pick a certain class though will mean that when you get certain classes in your party, everyone should know exactly what they are doing without trying to have healers trying to be DPS or DPS trying to be tanks, etc. Equipment might be easier to distrubte as well if everything is class specific or only benefits certain jobs.
I dislike Eve's method for leveling up in that you don't have to do anything but log in start training and then log out to build up your character. It doesn't require you do anything really to learn and get use to what you are training and know what you are doing. The idea isn't bad so that you can do whatever you want, but it is done wrong in my opinion and could be greatly improved upon.
