12-31-10, 03:51 PM #1Russian Tank Tree
Some advice for players looking to move through the Russian tech tree. Tanks in RED should probably be avoided. Feel free to add your opinion on a particular tank, and I will update the OP.
MS-1 - T1 beginner tank
Artillery
SU-18 -
SU-26 - It is accurate, and unless you are up against heavies you can do good damage as well. Only arty with a 360 degree turret radius.
SU-5 - More damage than the 26, but IMO it is not accurate enough to make it worth the upgrade.
SU-8 -
SU-14 -
S-51 -
Object 212
Light Tanks
T-26 -
T-46 - Fun light tank, not too bad for scouting, just not as quick as the German PzIII's or Leopard. Thin armor, so-so gun, but it will make kills, and points for spotting if used properly. Downside is, PZ III's and Leopards will kill it easily.
BT-2 -
BT-7 -
A-20 -
Medium Tanks
T-28 -
T-34 -
T-34-85 -
T-43 -
T-44 -
T-54 -
Heavy Tanks
KV -
KV-3 -
KV-1S -
IS -
IS-3 -
IS-4 -
IS-7 -
Tank Destroyers
AT-1 -
SU-76 -
SU-85B - It has quite decent guns but it has wet paper bags for armor. It also has the tendency to get thrown into matchups that it really has little hope of winning. You have to play very carefully and conservatively with it. Oh and buy a freaking camo net for it.
SU-85 -
SU-100 -

Re: Russian Tank Tree
You'll love the T-34. It is fast as the dickens for the amount of survivability and firepower it has. I loved it to death and was rather sad to leave it.
The T34-85 IMO started a bit slow but once you get a better gun for it it really can shine. It is a decent speed, good armor and good HP. The guns are good with the 85mm Zis S-53 really shining because it can penetrate tier 8-9 tanks on a decently regular basis.
I've just starting the KV, but am liking it a lot. It may be kind of a boat, and the 'upgraded' turret is just a massive target but it has good survivability. Also the KV has a much easier next step, it being only ~25k ex to get to the KV3 rather then the 57k to go from t34-85 to the T-43.
Frankly, I'd just go for both. :PLast edited by Arreo; 12-31-10 at 04:10 PM.

Re: Russian Tank Tree
The T-28 sucks. sucks. sucks. It's bigger then a T6 Medium, has less armor then the Leopard and less HP. It's nice if you get matched evenly, but that doesn't happen very often. I just went straight the KV, lots more fun.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

01-01-11, 10:39 AM #10So far my two favorites are my T-34, even though it needs upgrades, and my SU-26. I have an SU-5, but it sucks on accuracy, and I seem to get tiered up to where I can't kill anything. I think my plan is to elite my T-34, then convert XP to get the KV next.
