New study shows architecture, arts degrees yield highest unemployment

Recent college graduates with bachelor’s degrees in the arts, humanities and architecture experienced significantly higher rates of joblessness, according to a study being released Wednesday by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce.

Among recent college graduates, those with the highest rates of unemployment had undergraduate degrees in architecture (13.9 percent), the arts (11.1 percent) and the humanities (9.4 percent), according to the study.

An art degree is actually quite a lot of work, at least at my university. Only really worth something if you want to be a teacher or if you have talent or both though.

I hate seeing architecture being lumped in there. With a housing bust and recession of course people aren't building and hiring them. Either way, thats why I didnt finish my architecture degree. Friends ahead of me were getting out and not able to get jobs. No need to go in debt for a useless degree.

Im sure the art degree is just as difficult as most other 4 year degrees but its the one I see people take when they want to dick around in college and live off their parents money
