Politically correct going too far and made me laugh
New school can't be the Cougars because middle aged women might get offended
Really? Middle-aged women who earned that title might be offended that others think all middle-aged women are subject to that title.Last edited by SapiensErus; 01-19-12 at 03:40 PM.

Re: Politically correct going too far and made me laugh
Saw your post. Hilarious.
Also, weird. Even if you can stretch your mind far enough to believe that this name might occasionally refer to something other than a wild mountain cat, who thinks that middle aged women are offended at having their sexuality promoted? "Cougars" isn't a problem. Calling the team the "Old Hags" is a problem.
I get the feeling some administrator just really wanted some other name, and used this as an excuse.
It's a silly world.
Cheers,

Favorite lines from the article include:
By pulling the right to pick their own mascot away, the school board turned what appeared to be a nice nod toward student self determination into a first overbearing act of a new administration that doesn't even exist yet. Appoint Dean Wormer as principal and the student rebellion will be ready to go by the first day of school.More significantly, why would the board even offer "Cougars" as a potential mascot choice if it wasn't prepared to accept it? That lack of logic is positively baffling.
