Yeah, I think that it sends a pretty powerful message. Rather than lie down and take abuse for fear of greater abuse, more people should be showing that they're willing and able to fight back.

I do agree with them in spirit though. I know the article mentioned that they were targeting some record companies and whatnot, personally thats who I'd be fucking with. The people that started the whole thing.
Yeah, but the Record companies are supposed to be working for their own interests. The public servants in congress and the DOJ are supposed to be working for our interests. I don't blame the record companies for acting like dicks, I blame my elected officials for ignoring the will of the people and complying with the dicks.

Not disagreeing with the idea behind it, I just think the attacks are going to have more negative effects than positive. You can bet your ass the majority of these hackers are american, and they would all be using foreign proxies and websites and whatnot. SOPA would give USG more authority to blacklist these sites because a large portion of them have acting cracking communities, as well as hacking commnuties. Meaning they are the people that actually steal your high dollar programs and then crack them to allow the public to use them via key gens.

While I 100% agree with the sentiment I just see more harm than good coming from this particular avenue of attack.

    How so?

People have had many opportunities to purchase the music and or games that people have illegally downloaded in the past and had those opportunities to download not presented themselves in such an easy way people would have purchased those products instead.

So Opportunity and Technology are to blame?

Judge: 17,000 illegal downloads don't equal 17,000 lost sales

With a little Science tossed in for good measure.
