Go look, where did I bring it up? Oh, I see, right AFTER your reply. Why don't you GTFO already. I didn't say shit to or about you, or about Christianity or any other religion. I don't jump in your topics with nonsensical shit, show me the same respect, or do you even know what that word means?

Let me draw you a picture.
1. In the linked article the guy says that life in prison isn't nearly as bad as people think. He states that he has heat/ac, three meals a day, a bed to sleep in, and free television and medical care.
2. I stated that if I were faced with the choice of being hungry and on the street, or robbing someone, then the consequence of going to prison would NOT be a deterrent as I would receive food and a warm bed.

01-26-12, 12:39 PM #13Non-sensical? Eh. You implied that a homeless person's only refuge would be jail. I made a joke to point out that thanks to christiaans, there are much better options than your laughable hyperbole. You constantly espouse a bunch of Christian beliefs on topics so I thought you would remember the concept of charity that your lord and savior so often preached about.
sent from the temple of cthuluenf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

The prison system for crimes like murder or rape needs to be more malicious. More torture and less creature comforts. I am being specific to PRISON NOT JAIL. If you kill someone at the very least we remove an appendage, for rape other things get removed. Install remote explosive collars and have them work mining or farming or manufacturing industries.
Rule by fear in many aspects is wrong, however you should be fearful of committing murder or rape.

I have often thought prison labor was a good idea. I even authored a bill for Youth and Government while in high school that would require labor for extracurricular activities. So, want to watch TV, make some license plates. Want to play basketball, bust some rocks. A few days ago I saw some news story on TV that prison labor in some state, maybe New Mexico, is driving other companies out of business. The prisoners are paid something like $5 per day to farm raise fish, make saddles, or whatever. This allows the companies to obviously sell the products at a much lower price than a company who is even paying minimum wage to its employees.

The Hidden History of ALEC and Prison Labor | The Nation
I know nothing about The Nation, but it has some info about prison labor in that article. Basically they say inmates are paid about $0.20 an hour in the US. The show I watched said as long as the products made by the inmates were sold in state they could be paid that low, but if they crossed state lines they had to be paid at least minimum wage.
