Re: Tax Credit deal financed on the backs of mortgage holders
Lol, aren't you supposed to be out herding goats or something? Don't worry, I still love you, Xav!
Damn right it's defeatist, because we already fucking lost. Notice how shit hasn't change regarding parties in at least 50 years? Especially after the Citizen's United decision and the rise of PAC's and Super PAC's, there is no way for anyone but the two major parties to retain power. It's naive to believe we can change the whole system it we just click our heels three times and wish it to be so. No third-party will ever rise because they won't get the funding, since all the major funding goes to influence the top two parties, and they don't get an honest handshake from the media regarding airtime and debates. The only way to fix the system is to tear it down and start all over.
Edit: And give me one good reason why I should vote for a Republican if I don't agree with anything they say? There's a reason they joined that party, and it's not because they have pretty colors...Last edited by Fovezer; 02-07-12 at 04:05 PM.

Re: Tax Credit deal financed on the backs of mortgage holders
I wish i didnt have to call bullshit to this. Whos in office is our fault as a group not the media. Back in the day sure we could say that but not now. The internet is every where and nothing can hide from it. People have to give a shit for something to change. Tearing down this one will do nothing but leave us with a new set of corrupt fuckers in the next one.
In the end what it comes down to is each person taking responsibility for their vote and not passing it off as its what we had to deal with. So i chose the lesser of 2 evils. Exercise your right and do it with your head not which way you leaned the last time. There are always at least 3 choices for every seat. Start firing those that fucked you and sooner or later you will end up with a system thats actually by the people and for the people.
Thats on our heads not theirs.
Edit. There is only one good reason to vote for anyone regardless of party and that is you agree with their perspective of what needs to change. Thats why i dont select a party i select a candidate.Last edited by deathgodusmc; 02-07-12 at 04:13 PM.

Re: Tax Credit deal financed on the backs of mortgage holders
Look, I get it. You're an eternal optimist. A pie-in-the-sky idealist. That's cool. I, however, am a realist. People, in general, are stupid. They vote for politicians for stupid reasons, too. "Oh, I'd like to have a beer with him." "I'm voting for the other guy because he's not black." "I'm not racist, I voted for a black President." Stupid shit like that. While you and I may pay extremely close attention to politics, most people do not. I know, because when I talk to some people and ask them simple questions, they look at me like I just said something in a foreign language. Media has a lot more influence than you want to admit, which is why the parties spends millions, if not billions, on campaigning. They can get their message and name out, and the little guy can't. You can't compete. The playing field has to be leveled first before any meaning change can happen.
Lol, it's like herpes, once you catch it, it doesn't go away.
Oh come on now Xav, you always tell me how much you like to play catcher!

Im all for leveling the playing field but that doesnt require replacing the entire system. All that requires is all funding go into a group pot and gets cut into equal shares for that particular seat. So pres would be a fed pot and any fed level state appointtee comes from the state as would governer. Counties positions would come from county level and so on.

I'm not just for replacing the whole system to level the playing field, but I don't think the current system is very representative. It's an archaic system that has lived long past its expiration date. It needs to be replaced to make it more representative. The Senate is the biggest fucking joke in this country.
I do agree that elections should be publicly-funded, though, and that would help a lot. But not completely. PAC's and Super PAC's for candidates have to be banned and equal time for all candidates has to be mandated. Until we do that, nothing will change.
