Re: Driving and Cannabis - Not so safe after all (queue common sense arguments)
I'll never understand why people want to smoke it. All of the friends that I had when I was a teenager smoked some only got high one time. Some get completely paranoid and freaked out. Who wants to feel like that? I don't get it.

Some people just can't handle it, for psychological and/or biological reasons. Normally, the feel you would get would be great. It's a shame it makes people lazy, and turns others psychotic.
But I completely understand what you are saying. It takes some years of daily consumption before they start freaking out while high.Last edited by deathgodusmc; 02-14-12 at 11:32 AM. Reason: remember the forum rules

Re: Driving and Cannabis - Not so safe after all (queue common sense arguments)
I would like to weigh in here. With most people I agree they should not drive after smoking, however I have a coworker that it acts more like a medication than a drug. If he does not smoke, he is a pain to work with and cannot concentrate on tasks. When he does smoke he is a normal functioning member of society and does not exhibit any 'typical' symptoms. I trust him more driving after smoking than not to be honest.
Like I said this is ONE person. I have quite a few friends that smoke and they turn into complete retards and the last thing they should do is drive. I felt the need to show another perspective though.

One arrest I have made sticks out of my mind. While patrolling on a state highway,
Around 1am, I spotted a car going the opposite way with one headlight. Real beat up looking car so I turn on it. I get behind the car as it approaches a red light in the turn lane. As we are siting there, I start t run its plate. The arrow goes green and he proceeds into the intersection. Just then I see this car going the opposite way, blow the red light, and almost hit me and the car I pull over. I immeditely disengage from the first car and active my lights to pull over the car that ran the red light.
Long story short, this guy had about 22 grams of marijuana, several pipes, and was baked. Marijuana is just as dangerous as any mind altering drugs behind the wheel, I.e. alcohol, xanax, pain killers, herion etc...
Sent from my phone, because obviously I am not at home...using TapaTalk

Bold and color for emphasis....but the point stands, contrary to popular repetition, that driving under the influence of cannabis is not "safe" by any stretch of the definition. There is a measurable effect on reaction times and motor skills, likely commensurate with intake, tolerance, potency and time since last ingestion/inhalation. The number of people who claim, adamantly, otherwise are fooling no one but themselves. But by all means, do "moar" research. In the meantime, it would be nice if proponents of legalization would stop comparing the effects of it to "potpourri".
