So who started, or enacted the law? How many people are taking advantage of the provision? How many people are actively trying to repeal it?
No idea but this section dates to at least the mid 60s and was last amended in 1991 (so there are lots of folks enjoying this.)
Currently close to 200
No one as far as I can tell.
Must be good for the elected few huh? But yeah no one was up in arms about it until now....wonder why.
Oh yeah that's right.....go figure.

When people begin to pay attention to the fact that all of their elected officials routinely rape them then we can perhaps get somewhere. But as long as people keep believing the "emperor's new clothes" myth that they all care about you and have your interests at heart we'll continue getting screwed by members of the world's second oldest profession.

Re: Slick perry
“I would suggest to you that it’s rather inappropriate if you’ve earned something if you don’t take it and take care of your family,” Mr. Perry said. “This was put into place by the Legislature, and if your point is it’s not appropriate, then the Legislature will change it.”
So if some crook passed a law that benefits you then you have earned the benefit and you are entitled to it. This from a former candidate for President of the United States.

Re: Slick perry
@flame, I think the problem is that those who provide the benefit (the taxpayers) did not know about the law. Those who receive the benefit have concealed it (private pension records). For 20 years nobody who received the benefit had the integrity to bring it out in the open. They just kept collecting their pension checks.
I don't think this has anything to do with Republicans versus Democrats.
