it seems sizable because the people that dont give a shit about gay people being married kind of dont give a shit. We vote for gay rights and mock the nuts but for the most part we dont protest and rage over stupid shit like an archie comic.

Although it was overturned, 52% of the 13 million votes cast were against same sex marriages. I'd call that a sizable chunk of the population and not just some goofy fringe.

Oh and 79% of those eligible to vote showed up and voted, so it wasn't just the loonies coming out to vote.

Trigger I agree it´s a sizeable portion of the U.S. population that has some issue with gay rights or gays altogether...but you can´t ignore the rampant racism, even if it´s off topic, against minorities (turkish people, middle eastern, blacks, moors, brown people) in Europe. It´s everywhere, it´s palpable wherever you go.

I live here and can tell you that it's an assimilation issue. If you're Turkish and were born in Germany, you're expected to speak proper German with no accent. You'd be surprised how many don't. The same applies to those living here in France. Act right and you get treated right. I live it daily.

And yet assimilation is required over there and called out when it doesn't occur. That's not racism, it's just enforcing assimilation.

But over here assimilation is desired, not required, and speaking about desiring (or requesting) assimilation is branded racism. Ok, got it.

It´s an intolerance issue...which is what racism is.

It's not the skin color but the lack of assimilation. Germany doesn't want to become Turkey. They have a national identity and want to preserve it.
