Re: One Million Moms threatens to boycott Toys R Us because of gay Archie comic
I don't have a degree in sociology, psychology, or any such field of human behavior, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express in my lifetime, so I'm just going to throw this out. Human behavior, specifically western human behavior, has always been about never settling for what you don't like. Leave your surroundings and people that you don't get along with, find a new place to hang with others that are like minded, and settle down. Not saying it's right or wrong, but that's what has happened for centuries upon centuries. Now we are at a point where there is nowhere else to go on this earth that isn't "owned or occupied". We have an adventurers attitude that now has been chopped off at the knees due to lack of new places we can move to and be at peace with ourselves. Space exploration and a new livable planet would do wonders for many adventurous people. Think about it, we have people playing video games here in a virtual reality, people find dates for themselves in a virtual reality, we argue about our social and political beliefs in a virtual reality. I could go on and on. Many of us need a new reality-reality. With that being said, it doesn't surprise me at all that the world is kicking and screaming at each other for their own identity and a mutual respect for each ones personal space. We as a race are going to have to learn how to get along, or find that new livable planet, or I fear things could get ugly in a big hurry.
