Job Seekers being asked for Facebook passwords

If your profile is private then they have no concern with getting to see it. I wouldnt hand over the keys to my house so they could look around either. Its one thing if its a public viewing but private they have no reason to see it.

Altho its not like you cant change it when you get home. That is if you didnt from a phone sitting in your car in the parking lot. I still wouldnt but there are ways around it.

My FB is very much publicly available. But I would walk on an employer who wanted to sign into my personal account for anything. That's like asking for your car keys so they can see if you do anything they don't like in your own car (or house keys, etc.).

If you did something stupid with a facebook account in your name, it would reflect on you and not the name listed under 'employer'. Now if the facebook account was headed by the name of your employer, you would be correct.

Tell that to the teachers that have been fired for posting pictures on their Facebook pages that the school district deemed inappropriate.

How'd the school district find it to begin with?
Also there some stats somewhere suggesting that ??% checks thier faceSpacetube at work, using company property, In that case I could see it being appropriate. or when Applying for a Community Manager, or Social Network PR person thingy.
