04-17-12, 02:46 AM #71This entire argument is stupid anyways. Sorta like asking if Ali or Tyson would win if they were both in,their prime.
It wont happen, so everyone should just shut up.

Re: What a pair of balls.
Lol, this debt is ALL because of the right-wing and their stupid cut taxes, increase spending idiocy. Reagan started all that shit, too. Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. carried it on. Maybe if those morons weren't so fiscally irresponsible, we wouldn't be where we are today.
Stimulus, as watered-down as it was, was successful. The auto bailout was a smashing success. Cash for Clunkers was meh, I'll give you that. You can't even judge the health care act fully because most of it doesn't go in effect for another two years!
Whoa, whoa, whoa, you know people like Tymer don't let pesky facts get in the way of their delusions!
Lol, or not. The hostages were released right after Reagan's inaugural address. Like, literally right when he finished talking. Reagan had no bearing whatsoever on it. The deal was signed and completed before Ronnie even took office.

Re: What a pair of balls.
It took both parties to get where we are. You want to blame the war for the deficit? I have no issue with that but remember it was congress that put us at war not the president. It took congress to keep us at war not the president. It takes congress to increase spending not the president at anywhere near the margin needed for this.
The stimulus barely worked if at all. It worked great for saving companies that should by all rights be gone right now for it was their actions that put us where we are. Funny how the very companies that pay our politicians for their votes got the bailout they needed and the little guy got shit on. The only difference this time is the size of the dump taken on them was much larger. Oddly enough we had to save banks that were to big to fail that contained funds guaranteed to us by the FDIC. So who really got saved here and why?
I think it took both in this one to end that siege. Yes carter spent a long time talking trying to get them released. That coupled with the fact reagan already stated his full intentions of what would happen once he took office. They were left with really no choice. Both get credit for this one in my book. However if carter had been as forceful as reagan would it have gone on as long? I cant answer that one but i speculate it would have probably ended sooner.

I didn't blame the war for the deficit. It contributes to it, but it did not cause it. It began under Reagan with his unpaid tax cuts and his increased spending and Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. continued both of those policies. Obama came into office while the deficit was already blasting off, and it wouldn't have been any different if McCain had won, except he probably would have made it worse.
Stimulus was successful. CBO | CBO's Estimates of ARRA's Impact on Employment and Economic Output for the Second Quarter of 2011 Was it as successful as it could have been? No, but that's because it was watered down. As for the bailouts, I've been very critical of the bank bailouts. They had to be saved, but the manner in which they were saved was beyond wrong. They should have been nationalized. The auto bailout, on the other hand, saved an entire industry, and by extension, a ton of jobs.
Lol, no one was afraid of Ronnie the actor at that time! Reagan's only political experience at the time was Governor of California. To give credit to Reagan for doing absolutely nothing but existing is absurd and idiotic.

Re: What a pair of balls.
Sure the "warS" contributed to it. The debt was already growing before Reagan. He just had the biggest leap up to that point. Your speculation on what would have happened under McCain is unfounded. Sure the deficite was growing when Obama took office but he sure didnt change anything to slow it down. In fact he still hasn't gotten congress to even make a budget. Then he starts the health care bill with a falsehood of it will lower the deficite. You really dont even have to be very smart to see thru that smoke screen. That bill as it stands will cost this country way way more then hes trying to lead on.
Oh please to your link. We're suppose to take the word of the government that the bailout was a success when they're talking about jobs created when everyone knows they come to that conclusion by a reduction in welfare checks going out?
No the auto bailout didnt save an entire industry. It saved GM and Chrysler (for the time being). Ford didn't take anything from the bailout and were still doing just fine. The auto parts dealers were unaffected at worst and benefited from it at best due to people not buying new cars. If GM and Chrysler had gone under what would have changed? Larger sales for Ford and domestic made imports. So no sir it didnt save anything.
This shows how little you know of the time frame. It is equivilent to when Clinton took office. They knew nothing about him but had enough insight into his personality and previous statements to know he was to pussy to wage war. That's precisely why Iraqi soldiers fired their weapons in celebration when Clinton won the presidential race.
