What a pair of balls.
Obama: Ronald Reagan Couldn't Have Won GOP Primary Today
"President Barack Obama says if President Ronald Reagan was running for president now, he "could not get through a Republican primary today."
What an arogant fucking prick. He isnt a quarter the man Reagan was. Not only would he get thru the primary but Reagan would have killed him in the election. This dipshit better at least learn to read.
1980 electorial votes 489 popular vote percentage 50.8.
1984 electorial votes 525 popular vote percentage 58.8
obama electorial vote 385 popular vote percentage 52.9
The numbers speak for themselves but even if you want to talk about the 52.9% it was against mccain and people didnt think he would live thru his term.

I think you missed the point of what Obama was saying. To me, Obama was suggesting that Reagan wouldn't be 'Republican' enough for the modern Republicans. It didn't seem like Obama was passing judgement on Reagan as a President, other than noting that he (Reagan) understood that sometimes taxes need to be raised. Which contrasts with the 'no taxes no matter what' sentiment in the current Republican party.
We can do better.

Re: What a pair of balls.
I will tell you that you are wrong because you misunderstand the context perhaps?
he is suggesting simply that something Reagan did is the exact opposite of what Romney is preaching right now; IE Reagan did something that would make NOT get elected by the Republican primary.
It is not a stab at Reagan except to say that St. Ronald did something that is frowned on by the GOP now. I think he is suggesting it is an ironic state for the Republicans to be in.
meh... read the article.
Can't say I remember much about Reagan; except that his photo ops were all staged near noisy distractions to prevent him from speaking unscripted
EDIT: Beat to the punch.

Well, let's look at this without the thread turning into r/circlejerk. Reagan raised taxes. Nowadays, instant not getting the Rep nomination. While he supported religion he was for the separation of church and state...again something that would keep him from getting the nomination.
Also, do remember that it would be the events of the Reagan administration that led to the recession during the first Bush's term.
There's also the bit where it was under Reagan that we armed and trained the peeps who would form Al Qaeda...so yeah.
Of course, I was born in 86 so what do I know?
Hey look here: Presidency of Ronald Reagan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I see a bunch of what the current Reps would call wasteful entitlement programs.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
