Oh I know she is nuts ( Kharma for taking my NORTH Stars ), but she must be pandering to someone?! It must be difficult for the others in her party. We had Jesse "The Mind" up here, but since he was an Independent, it was easy for the two major parties to distance themselves. No one had to take responsibility for that abortion. Now, we have Frankin, who is actually more of a joke now than he ever was on SNL. He used to write for Belushi, but now he pumps out gems like SOPA/PIPA.

I guess I've never seen the TSA as a Repub/Dem point of contention...In fact I thought that pretty much everyone agreed that the TSA is, at the very least, running a terribly inefficient and inconvenient operation. Is she getting a good bi-partisan pasting?

I'll be honest. I kind of ignore that part of Texas. Al might know more, but these people seem beyond even his erudite mind.

I agree with you, my point was just that I'm getting tired of the media (and then the average person) going "look at what teh evil TSA did to grandma!" Its the wrong focus, the stories should be about how ineffective and (generally) stupid the current TSA system is (Basically the "you are al terrorist until we grope you enough")

It seems the media's goal is to let grandma skip the security line, but otherwise let TSA grope away (and not find the400 knifes in your bag)/

Funny you bring up the TSA, I just flew home from Orlando. Forgot I left my toiletries bag in my carry-on. It goes through the scanner, he calls the boss lady over, and she asks me to step to the side with her while she searches my bag. Pulls out the shaving cream can and toothpaste, but leaves the razor and stick of deodorant in the bag. I guess I am just confused about the whole damn thing.

As for the bus thing, the intent seems to be good, the execution just is bad. Random bag checks are barely useful, and definitely not worth the trouble (no matter who is doing it, be it a school, a prostitute, Fred down the street, or the TSA). Marshalls isn't the worst idea, though they better be well trained in reading body language, and even its debateble how much success they would have.

Like I said I see the intention, its being gone about the wrong way (and there really will probably never be a "right" way to have security when it comes to public buses) but I do have to give at least a little bit of props for someone at least looking at something other then Airplanes (though I'd think trains and metros are a better focus right now, and freight.)

Well see, the problem is you didn't put your shaving cream and/or toothpaste in 3.4oz containers in a 1 quart bag. If you did that, you could of brought enough toothpaste to brush your teeth probably every couple seconds. Because, you know, people could never mix them together or something, instead of carrying them in a 4oz bottle (in other words, its really fucking stupid).


Speaking of which, I'll try to find the article again, but I was reading an article about a week ago that was all about the TSA, but one that stuck out was the fact that there are scanners now that could identify liquids and get rid of the damn 3.4oz rule. I forget why they weren't implemented though.
