Re: TSA did the right thing

Not on the money issues (that is separate), but I swear if I see another article about "OMGZ!! TSAorZ searchorZ 90 (or 5 or w.e.) year oldZ!! R teh Abuserorz!$!@#!#!#@!@" I'm going to need to go on a crusade to inform people to find something more productive to bitch about.

Serisously half of this shit is "Why, a 90 year old could never be a terrorist!" No, in the current system if you say "okay, we won't screen people who look 90+," you've create a hole to be exploited. If you are password protecting all computer (say to prevent sensitive information from getting out), do you go "You know, that one computer over there is slow, it doesn't run that great, we don't need to secure it?"

Basically, to the media (and people in general): Stop being fucking idiots, bitch about the security method used by the TSA, not because "OMGZ dey searched GrannyZ!!@#!@" crap.

Funny i would think people rights being shit on by the government is a good crusade worthy of bitching about.

    I agree with red 100000%..

If the terrorist organizations are willing to use women, children, etc... What makes you think they won't use grandma and grandpa?

Gotta check everyone, but I still believe the TSA is a huge joke.

There's also something called good judgement, and a forgotten word called tact. Everybody should be checked, but if you test a 95 year old man for nitrates, and the only thing you find on him is his nitro pills for his heart. Then still accuse him of wrongdoing, you're doing it wrong.

I'm going to guess that Red_L wouldn't disagree with you. What I got from his post is that the outrage over embarrassed seniors, mothers, and children is distracting from the real outrage: What the TSA (and other gov't agents) are doing generally.

If someone is clear-cutting an old growth forest because they have a Mulch Mandate, then focusing all your bitching on particular oak tree is the way to lose.

If the TSA adjusted their procedures and stopped harassing sweet old ladies, it would fix nothing. This isn't about sweet old ladies (though they do make good poster victims).

    Cheers,

I dont care anything about if the pick one type of person. My point to the post is the violation to everyone they search. It doesnt help anyone and your mistaken if you think it can stop anything. Its nothing more then window dressing. Your no more safe now then you were prior to the TSA.

Which is exactly what red is saying to be upset about. Not the 90 year old lady. Fuck the 90 year old lady (I won't judge you).

I'm already right there with you. "Security Theatre" is one of my favourite phrases from the past decade.

    This.

And lucky Houston (thanks to the TSA, metro and Sheila Jackson Lee) will be piloting TSA marshals and random bag checks on busses.

    Fail.
