Re: I feel so much better about the future of the world...
It's been a long time since I've been to Ted's, but I just looked at their online menu (assuming it's up-to-date). As I recall, the standard hotdog is a beef/pork mix. The footlong is the same except for its footlongishness. The Jumbo All Beef is all beef (no pork).
What I don't see on their menu is white hotdogs (variously referred to as a Coney, Snappy, or White Hot). I don't know if Sahlen's makes those, but Hofmann's and Zweigles do. These are beef, pork, and veal; and were my favourite.
From these companies you can also get knockwurst, bockwurst, bratwurst, etc. I'd rate a Hofmann's Brat much better than any national supermarket brand I've ever tried; but not as good as the Brats I can get from a local German butcher shop.
Cheers,
AetheLove
Edit: don't want to come off like I'm an obsessive about hotdogs. There are better ones and worse ones, but they're still hotdogs. They're nice at a ball game or a picnic, but it's still casual food.Last edited by AetheLove; 06-07-12 at 10:00 AM. Reason: add perspective

That looks delicious, but I would sub it with butter chicken curry. I love poutine, but the butter cx shit from new York fries is the shit!
Oh and without a local meat guy I stick with Nathan's, Sabrett, and Hebrew National. Probably the best store brands you can get around me.
