"The attorney general wants to trade a briefing and the promise of delivering some small, unspecified set of documents tomorrow for a free pass today," Grassley said afterward. "He wants to turn over only what he wants to turn over and not give us any information about what he's not turning over. That's unacceptable. I'm not going to buy a pig in a poke."

Re: Obama asserts executive privilege on Fast and Furious documents
The whole concept of executive privilege is bullshit. However in my hatred of old bama i'll add where is this transparency that we were promised?

Re: Obama asserts executive privilege on Fast and Furious documents
Reading up on it this in particular seems more like political theater. Not saying I don't believe Obama wouldn't hide something he felt threatened his position significantly, or anything he believed was in the interest of national security (or the big boys financial security...); but there does not seem to be much behind this event in particular to spark a "he's hiding something [that makes him look horrible or whatever]." Bringing light to this and all the saber rattling around it draws attention to Obama doing something all presidents have done but near to an election season seems to me to be mostly ... political theater.
I appreciate oversight and investigation, especially into pressing matters. This is not something I will give much worry to. Although that operation was a major fail ... and reading into that it sounds like it was not just a bad but potentially immoral idea, but not as bad as many others during other presidencies. I cannot imagine something horribly incriminating lies buried in that document.
Gads ... they really f'ed up that gun running investigation though.
