They were more profitable (arguably) because they all made cars people fucking wanted. Look at the cars from that time chevelle, hemicuda, judge,gto, mustangs, camaro, superbee, fairlane, the list goes on and on. Now your choice is a cookie cutter car where you just have to choose what brand name you want on the tag. Cars have no style anymore.

They WANTED to file Chapter 11 to restructure, but they COULDN'T because no private institution was willing to take that risk in the middle of a recession. They couldn't get the DIP financing for Chapter 11 from anywhere. That meant, barring any government involvement, they would have had to file Chapter 7.

They didn't file for Chapter 11 until AFTER the bailout by Obama. They filed on June 1st, the bailout was passed in February, I believe.

If they could make hybrid cars cool, I would be all over it. I'm a big environmental guy (to a point), and I'd love to see those as the primary focus... haha, no pun intended...

With a hydrogen fuel cell, people could make their own fuel at home. There is no way that wouldn't sell like a naked Xav, covered in glow paint, in Brazil at Carnivale.

See and they know all of that which is why all of those cars look like shit. If they made a mustang or camaro with that stuff it would sell and we damn sure cant have that catching on.

Whatever im not going to go thru this with you. The real lesson here is buy a ford. At least they can run a company somewhere other then into the ground.
