I didn't read the entirety of your recapitulation. I read the thread the first time, and referred to it before each of my responses. The original text is always the primary source, and your reading of history seemed a bit off.

I think my reading comprehension is pretty good. I don't feel bad for having tried to short-circuit a rhetorical ruse that played a semantics game with the word "theory".

It's possible I misrepresented your intentions; but I already admitted that. I wasn't alone in my supposition, and I did accurately represent the other party (as they have said). You yourself said you were leading the discussion that way, eventually citing the ancient Greek origins of the word. Sure, the word "theory" doesn't mean just one single thing. But if you honestly didn't understand the way it was being used then you were the odd one out.

So I don't feel bad for having called it like I saw it; and I don't think it's a weakness when someone admits they might not see everything perfectly. Any useful discussion demands of all parties that they hold at least a tiny sliver of personal fallibility. If winning for you is exhausting the patience of most who disagree with you, and insulting those who remain, then the trophy is yours.

If you had some larger point to make, then success is determined by your ability to make it.

I have NEVER thought of myself as a Democrat. I despise most of if not all of the Democratic leadership in DC. But i answered each question based on how i think, not based on what "party" im in.

You sir, are as moderate as they come. I would suspect that when you are so close on so many issues, the thing that wins you over to one side or the other deals with values. Would that be a correct assessment?

Yes and no. Not values in the traditional right wing family values way, but in the "Do the right thing when nobodys looking" kind of way. I will side with a candidate that has shown through actions that he has a strong moral compass.
