99% of the posts you, Fov, Trigger, and others make in response to criticism of Obama state that anything he does wrong is because he had to either because of Bush, or because of the Reps in Congress. Yet everything Bush did wrong was all of his own doing because Clinton left him in a bed of roses. I am just calling BS on both of those stances. Yes, Bush made plenty of mistakes of his own doing, and so has Barry. Let's give credit where credit is due, and blame where it is due also is all I am asking.

I actually generally say that the failed Republican policies caused the recession, not the failed Bush policies. Now, don't get me wrong, I think that Bush was a terrible president, and did plenty of damage in his own right, but for six of his eight years as president, he had a Republican congress as well. These policies and their effects can be firmly placed in the hands of the Republican party, the same party claiming to be tho ones to fix it.

Re: Are we really better off?
The problem is we aren't ever having real discussions about the issues. It's been us refuting talking points brought up by a handful of people here. "Are you better off than four years ago" is straight from the Romney campaign. Obama doubling the debt, health care, the stimulus, the bailouts, etc. It's always the same accusation that we continually have to shoot down and it's all meant to knock down Obama and the Democrats to try and prop up the Republicans. You want to know where I blame Democrats? Easy. They totally blew off the chance to institute real financial regulations. They started the health care bill with what they wanted and negotiated a weaker bill, instead of starting at Medicare-for-all and negotiating down to something like we have today but with a public option. Similarly, I was disappointed in the stimulus bill because I thought it could have been far better by having a lot few tax cuts in it. But no one here brings up policy points like that, it's always what they heard on Fox News or read on Drudge. The same talking points. Look at that discussion we had on gun control, where there were no partisan bickering, just two people with different ideologies discussing the topic and what they believe. If we discuss an issue like that, it's easier to separate the partisan attitudes.
So I'm willing to lay the blame on both sides, as I have done with Clinton and the Democrats for passing Gramm-Leach-Bliley, but when people bring up demonstratively false claims, I'm going to refute them even if that makes it look like all I do is support Obama and blame Republicans.
