I can give you one good reason why water coud be deadly to some life forms. Because it's so reactive. The same reason why it's good for life here on earth (Eg it dissolves stuff easily making it easy for microbes to get food from) could be bad for other life forms.

Just because we haven't observed it doesn't mean it's not true.

Signs is a movie about the grief of losing someone close to you disguised as science fiction. I think that unless you have lost a spouse or a child, it would be hard to see the beauty of that movie.

Back to topic. This really just confirms something that was already fairly well accepted. But that is sort of the point of the whole mission
