No but it does mean just because it worked somewhere else on a much smaller scale means it would work here. Most likely it would fail massively before we figured out a fix for it.

The average American couldn't, and wouldn't, invent things like mass education or mass production. Most Americans (and people, for that matter) are short-sighted, selfish and stupid. Human society is where it is because the occasional enlightened genius is able to pull the rest of the masses forward, a few inches.

This I agree with. This is why it makes me laugh when people mention "race to the bottom" only in regards to corporations and wages/benefits. The country/world has been in a race to the bottom for thousand/millions of years.
