Re: And it begins.
Yes sorry for the confusion. This is exactly what I was trying to say. I was on the phone while I typed that post... :-)
I also was looking at this in a more long term sense than short term. You are right that markets can be volatile, but this is typically a short term thing due to unexpected influences - natural disaster for instance.
But government intervention is kind of insidious in that it typically starts a crazy cycle that is difficult to get off of within specific markets. Regulation can be good in moderation, but price fixing is a big no-no in my book.

Re: And it begins.
I've asked myself the same question and have even called out a few people for completely ignoring some of my posts. I guess you have to see it from their point of view. If they come across a "logical and coherent post", what are they to do about it? Nothing, they know what you are saying is true and there is nothing they can argue, so you get no response.
It is only the incoherent and biased posts that get all the responses. The reason being that others can find flaws or information to contrary to these posts, which results in a lot of replies and arguing.
Just remember, if your posting and no one is replying to it, it is because nobody can find a flaw in what your saying, so you are speaking the truth, which is a nice fresh of breath air considering all the misinformation and biased opinions that are floating around these forums.

Well then we need to get America thinking more like that. I know the price of gas has come up a number of times in this election but both parties want to keep it low and thats all they care about. Subsidies on gas have been around forever and that is why our gas is so cheap, but most of America doesn't consider it cheap.

I dont buy that. They never needed the subsidies to make a profit. So why would we consider it cheap while a single company like chevron can post a 67 billion dollar profit for one quarter?
Then there is always the argument we pay less then they do over in the UK while ignoring how much the taxes are added to it to help pay for their heath care system.

They never needed the subsidies but they still get them. But you still seem to be arguing for them?
Rather that money go to something more useful then.
