Re: Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News
Really? Did you check with everyone else in this forum, or... are you making an assumption, too? I'll make any comments I want, without checking with you, or AeTheLove to make sure I'm understanding things they way someone meant from some obscure source. How's that?
Though I'm sure Soviet appreciates his White Knights coming into take care of him. How sweet.

Re: Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News
I wasn't coming to anyone's rescue. I was riffing on a computer joke I'd made some posts before.
I already said that I didn't know if everyone understood what he was talking about. I thought I did. I thought most everyone else did. I thought you didn't. Then I admitted that there was no way to know. I don't watch Fox, but that clip was like the little boy pointing at the naked emperor: 30 minutes after it happened it was everywhere.
Are you TRYING to be insulted? If so, then go ahead. People who want to see insults usually find a way to see them.
I don't think he meant it the way you took it. In a conversation between pals, don't you sometimes say "whoa, bro, he didn't mean it that way." ?
Cheers (seriously),
AetheLove

Re: Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News
It's not a problem until you, or anyone else, starts to assume...
Stop trying to figure out what everyone else thinks. It's not your concern. If Soviet is going to be careless enough to spout of something without adequately demonstrating where his "inside joke" comes from, then he gets whatever comment he deserves for being lazy.
But yet, you are exacerbating the issue by once again interjecting your opinion on the matter in regards to how I should or shouldn't have taken something, based on some nugget of information you feel everyone should have been privy to. What I find offense to, is that you think I, or anyone else, needs your running commentary on matters of such infinitesimal value that I need to take two pages of posts to basically tell you, "I don't care what you think".
We'll see if YOU understand what I mean, or if your next post will be yet another demonstrative effort to articulate a point I'm going to ignore anyway.

Re: Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News
I think you're suggesting that I post here without first trying to understand what other people are saying.
Not that I think I'd be alone here if that's how I went about it, but I think it's a bad way to have a conversation.
I'm happy to be accused of trying to articulate a point. I try to be articulate, and to have a point. I'm not always successful. Either way, if you want to ignore it then go ahead.
Cheers,
AetheLove

Re: Karl Rove meltdown on Fox News
Not at all. This is an internet forum. It behooves us to try and understand what other people are saying. That's the point of sharing opinions, ideas and concerns in the first place. The problem only arises when you try to inject your understanding as if it should be my own. Or worse, how I'm supposed to understand something based on information you may have, which may not have been readily available to everyone else, or taken the same way.
I watched the show live, as well as the video posted here. I may not have gleaned the same hilarity which others have. The comment Soviet made was inflammatory, regardless of how Stewart may have spun it (which I did not watch). The fact is, he put it in here, without so much as a by or leave as to the origin of this "joke". And because it was yet another jab at Republicans (be it his own assertions, or something he picked up from a satirical comedy show) on this protracted victory lap people are running around on the TPG forums, I called him out on it. I can do that without asking you, or anyone else if I understood his intentions correctly. If nothing else, its a socially acceptable mandate that if you are going to post in a High Drama forum, do so responsibly and with respect to those who read it, or face the consequences.
This issue would have been over and done with in two or three comments. But here we sit, a whole page later, talking about nonsensical stuff that has no bearing on anything. And all you have to do is stop wasting my time and yours, by interjecting your opinion on how I'm supposed to take something. You tend to do this kind of thing from time to time. And since past behavior is the best indicator for future behavior, I hope you remember this point when the issue comes up again.
