I see... So you are trying to infer that U.S. Ambassadors are murdered all the time? Or that our embassies or consulates in foreign nations, our soil, are regularly attacked and overrun by terrorist groups? That our spec ops security forces are regularly killed protecting diplomats abroad?

Biggest problem with Gates' comments is that they don't align at all the statements and testimony of people who were actually there and who were actually working at DOD and state department at the time... Are those the guys with the "cartoonish view" of our capability? Or maybe it's the spec ops tac team that was two hours away and told to stand down.
