    Are we real?

I thought this was a very interesting and thought provoking video. One really interesting thing I noticed is how science seems to keep running into the notion of a creator and then purposefully avoiding it with newer even further out-there theories, though I do appreciate the idea of exploring every possibility.

    Re: Are we real?

    So there's this box.

We started in the box. Everyone was in the box.

The box is a puzzle. You have to solve the box to open the box and get out of the box.

But the puzzle can only be solved from outside the box.

Then one day someone just up and breaks the box. Maybe they're mad, maybe it's an accident - whatever. It turns out that the box isn't particularly strong. It's just that everyone was focused on the puzzle. Anyway, now they're outside the box. They can see the box from the outside, where it is easy to see the solution to the box.

But now they're outside. The solution to the puzzle of the box is, to them, a fundamentally boring and useless thing.

Some people break out of the box. They may or may not look back.

Some people hear the voice of someone already outside the box say, "This is what the box looks like from the outside. You can solve it like this. Come outside the box and I'll show you."

For some reason, of this second type of person, lots of them say "No."

There is a third type of person in the world. They never hear anyone call from outside. They only know the box. Past a certain point they are too old to understand the solution, even if someone eventually calls in. That's kind of sad.

But not as sad as the people who say "No."

    Cheers,

    AetheLove

p.s. there's a whole other parable about people who make up parables and the extent to which some of them are completely full of shit. I haven't yet figured out which roll I play in that one.

I don't know either, but I enjoyed that one.

    Are we real?

You must not have watched the video. Lol. It really doesn't support my world view, in fact it depicts the problems between science and religion pretty well.

Couldn't really get past the hype. Fancy video theatrics, in a documentary are not really conducive to getting a real message across.

Started watching it this morning, i will finish it later tonight. Seems pretty interesting. I like hearing/seeing ideas from outside the box, no matter how whacky they seem in the face of current evidence. Like Scion reminded us, the world was once flat by all accounts..... until proven otherwise. Those crazy round earthers!
