Re: The numbers don't lie.
... and what the President did/said today didn't do thing one to prevent another massacre ...
The only children protected by the President today were those standing with him as he continued his masterful propaganda campaign. My goal is to succeed in any mission - and live to succeed again.
God grant that I may not be found wanting, that I will not fail this sacred trust.

Ya, I'm just saying that just because someone does not believe that something works does not make it true.
Just like people who say having more guns will make it go away.
And what is limiting you? what can't you do now that were not able to do before?

Decades of statistics(worldwide) say otherwise. Significant increases in gun ownership and CCW's have been shown to decrease violent crime rates in many states and countries. Studies performed in multiple countries have the same findings...that gun restrictions usually have a negative effect on violent crimes - negative effect as in, violent crime increases when gun ownership decreases. Less people may be murdered by firearms...more are raped, beaten, and robbed.

Re: The numbers don't lie.
So why does the US have such a high firearm murder rate in comparison to other developed countries?
You can't just blame it on inner city minorities as those exist in other developed countries too.
It seems to me that the approach to this is all wrong. If you have a illness (firearm murders) and the only discussion towards treating it is with how much antibiotics (access to firearms by citizens) should be used, there will never be a discussion as to the underlying cause. Any good doctor will tell you that it's the disease that should be treated and not the symptoms.

Re: The numbers don't lie.
Except that it's not a disease, therefore doctors should stick to their area of expertise. So glad to see that the CDC has been mandated to conduct a study on gun violence..
Taking the title of the topic, according to the FBI's crime statistics more than twice the number of people were murdered by "Personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.)" (728) in 2011 than by rifles (323).
So if the numbers don't lie, what will be accomplished by an assault weapons ban? Violent crime and murder rates continued to drop after the expiration of the previous ban.

Re: The numbers don't lie.
Because this country does not have a true understanding of opportunity.
Because many of our children today are born with a glass ceiling over their head.
Because the women's rights movement led to either single parent homes or latch key kids. (Theoretically)
Because our idol-ism in this country has turned to complete shit.
Because our children are brought up with violence.
Because anyone can buy a gun.
