Re: Unlocked Phone? Jail Time!
I apologize I did not read the link linked to from that second and only source thus provided. I only saw the mouse over title "amazonaws" and jumped to a conclusion. I am, as guilty as anyone, of posting before I read at times. I appreciate a real source and will read it over.
However, that is the only credible source cited over 5 pages of "outrage" and is subject to wide interpretation, imo."The bravery of idiots is bravery none the less."

You should be able to unlock a subsidized phone. Carriers do not lose money when you get a phone from them and unlock it to go to another carrier. Your contract always includes a termination fee to protect them from exactly this. Here we don't get subsidized phones. If you can't afford the phone at full price, you pay it out over the life of the contract. More direct evidence of who your government really works for.

Why should I pay more for an unlocked phone when i can do it for quite a bit less on my own, without any chance of actually breaking the fucking phone? It's a fucking software modification. It's not like your opening it up and soldering a chip in. The cancellation fees you have for cancelling a contract ALWAYS cover the price of your phone(s). This is basically a strong-arm tactic to try and keep people from switching carriers.
