As long as the authorities don't get stupid this is going to end well I'm betting. The guy is unstable obviously but he's letting them send non-essentials, meds, etc to him and they've said he's taking care of him. Six days in now, it doesn't sound like he has any intentions of hurting the kid. He might blow his own brains out before it's over but I'd bet he doesn't touch the kid.

Is it just me, or is anyone else more interested in the motives of such an insane situation? (now that the situation is over, that is.)
Maybe I missed my calling in life not being a psychologist, but to be honest, I don't really don't think I could look to deep into that sort of abyss.
