Yes. Because people who get paid all year despite a 3 month vacation every Summer really have an ax to grind. Poor victims of their own decision making, if anything.

Common sense does exist. It's capacity varies.

In today's society it would seem the "common" sense is below what we expect. Therefore the prevailing common sense is simply what most of us would call stupidity.

Good sense. That's what these people need.... And that sucker is in deficit I'm pretty sure.

My mom is at work where she teaches at 7:15am. She works till all the kids have been picked up at 5am, then works another hour. She comes home, has dinner, and then does lesson planning and how grading till 11PM. She is busy most weekends doing the same...but hey, she gets summer off and spring break...

How is that different than a lot of other people who work 9-10 hour days in the office and then work from home once kids have gone to sleep (sometimes 9:30 to 12:30)? Hell I still do that several times a week. A lot of other people do too. Don't get me wrong, my grandmother taught public school for 23 years and my aunt just retired after 30 so I understand.

Show of hands, who works after hours and on weekends and is salaried? (boy that's a lot of hands)

It's called caring about your profession and customers (students in your moms case). That's admirable that she does that. But there are more than a few people in the same hours per work week scenario who don't get spring break, or summers, or winter holiday, or monthly planning days, etc....

1) That kid getting disciplined AT ALL is bogus and should have not happened.

2) Teaching is no cakewalk. I have profound respect for what they do.

3) While I have respect for teachers I will not feel sorry for them as they chose their profession of their own accord.
