Just because something is legal doesn't make it RIGHT. As was mentioned in another thread by you DC, up till recently bestiality was legal in Florida....but that doesn't mean people should've been out exercising THAT right just because it was legal lol.

If they really wanted to raise awareness, or educate the populace, there are at least 100 better ways to go about it. Instead, they decided to go out and essentially troll the police. They're not heroes, and while they may not have done anything illegal they're still idiots.

There is a difference between what is legal and what is a right. However i wouldn't put them in my hero book thats for sure. Im simply saying if people understood what their rights are this wouldn't be an issue to begin. Its not even remotely an original thought but both sides were respectful. Yet people call them douche bags for going out doing this when the real problem is the police making the approach to begin with. So no i dont think their douche bags. I think they're exercising rights that millions of others should be doing as well but because people have become so lax with they're own rights police/law makers have widely over stepped what they were every allowed to actually do. As such bringing a video camera around with you is a good idea because they really dont like it when you know they cant do shit.

However the lesson these guys should learn is knowing the laws and rights is a good thing, exercising them is as well, but go home and learn about the damn weapon. I got the feeling their knowledge base of the weapon was its an ar-15.

Holy shit, I've seen these types of videos done with handguns but a rifle? When I see people in public with their handgun holstered to their hip, I usually just ask them what type of gun they have. I think it's cool and I don't feel threatened or scared that anything is going to happen, in fact I feel more secure. Reason being that if someone with a hand gun had an ill intent, they wouldn't be carrying it so openly, they would most likely be trying to conceal it or something.

In this case, if I randomly saw someone walking down the street with an AR-15 or AK47 I would immediately call the police. Not because their doing anything wrong, but because it's extremely rare to see someone walking with a rife. It's legal but it's outside the scope of normal, especially in a city or heavily populate area. These idiots probably scared the shit out of a lot of people.

Also I'm very surprised and pleased to see how calm and respectful the police officer was. Upon engaging them, he could have easily pulled his gun, and ordered them to the ground, and I wouldn't have blamed him for it.

To me, they're not douchebags because they exercised their rights, they're douchebags because they're essentially trolls.

Even if people knew you were allowed to open carry AR-15s and the like in some areas, I betcha people would STILL call the cops....and frankly, I probably would too. As Mafioso stated, it's something so far out of the ordinary that your first thought is always gonna be "Something's wrong here" rather than "Awwwww, they're exercising their 2nd amendment rights...."

Fun fact: Police can approach you for ANYTHING, especially if you give them a reason to. It's generally a wise idea to not give them reasons to do so in the future when they may have enough to do more than just talk with you.

Fun fact. No police cant approach you for anything. Well allow me to phrase. If you have no broken any laws you can just walk away and they can not legally do a damn thing about it. They have issues with understanding that and that is why they keep having to pay people money for their ego's getting the best of them. You need to find out what the reality of their reach is because it sure isnt as far reaching as you think it is.
