Personally, I could give two shits who marries who or whos. Just keep the hoo-hoo dillys and the cha-chas away from the kids and the dogs, and I'm cool. If being together is what makes them happy, why should they not have the same rights as anyone else? Because they have plumbing in common?

First let me say i side with you on the who gives a shit. Second i cant give a logical argument for either side because there isn't one to be made. There is no right to marriage. There is nothing they cant do with a piece of legal paper that a married person can do. The whole tax write off for being married is a farce. SO really what argument can be made that isnt an emotional one?

Im still against it but i wouldn't lose 1 second of sleep regardless of which way it fell. It ranks right up there with do i want burger king or mcd's. My point was as i said there is no logical argument for it just as there is no logical argument against it. Its a emotional argument no matter which side your on.

So you'd rather deny someone happiness even though you really don't give a fuck about it in the end. Nice.

Don't forget things like insurance benefits. In many cases those benefits apply only to spouses, which excludes same-sex couples that can't be legally married.

I do agree that the government should stay out of people's private business, which is to say that the special privileges afforded straight married couples should be replaced by something that can apply to all couples regardless of whether they're a pencil fencer or a deep sea fisher.

And yes there are quite a few privileges outside of marriage that unequally apply due to race, sex, etc. Should those be challenged and replaced with something that promotes true equality? Yes.

The tax break for a spouse is nonexistant. If you want tax breaks you need kids or a business.

Custody can be solved with a document and taxes was addressed twice already.
