I saw that vid before its pretty good.

As for your point trigger what other countries do is their business because they dont share the same constitutional rights we do and we've been propping them all up for decades. Maybe we wouldn't have the debt we have right now if we didn't have to keep the entire globe afloat.

Lol, I love how people compare gun rates between other countries and the USA. There are 314 million people in the US....there are 81 million people in germany....

do the math....see how well your stats stack up...

    Ok, let's do the math.

    US - 314 million, 9470 firearm deaths = 1 firearm death per 33,157 citizens.

    Germany - 81 million, 227 firearm deaths = 1 firearm death per 356.828 citizens.

That's roughly 10 times more firearm deaths in the US compared to Germany.

Was that the point you were trying to make Kraker?

Thats a good point DG, Trigger seems to completely ignore culture and conditioning. Not throwing stones, just an observation.

It seems to me that we have two issues. Proliferation, and human nature. Unless all the weapons that are currently in circulation legally or otherwise are collected and disposed of, banning this gun or that gun will solve nothing. Also, there is the fact that violence, or the potential for violent behavior will never be completely removed from the human condition.

I think what we are seeing unfold with reactions to killings like Newtown is not necessarily a push to remove our rights, but a push to condition the population to believe that one amendment is not necessary and should be eliminated.

But many of you conservatives like to try and use statistics, that is gun control, and skew them to make it seem like gun control means more violence. A number of countries around the world have effective gun control and much lower crime rates than we do. And, give or take, these countries are just as "free" as we are. Hell, some are even more free...

Im not a Conservative. Once upon a time maybe, but not now. I think alot of the other "free" societies around the world have been around longer than the US which at one point was undoubtedly the free-est nation in existence. But, never before in history have "things" changed at the speed they have for the last 200 years. Technology has never evolved at such a rapid rate, and i think that has lead to a culture in America that just wouldn't take hold anywhere else in the world. And a fucked up culture it is. I could go on forever about it, and its contributions to guns and crime, but im sure most of us here can see and understand the connection im talking about if they think about it.

I think we are beyond any assault weapon or magazine ban working to make anyone but the bad guys safer. So the question is, how do we address that issue? Two options IMO. Complete and total disarmament of the people and disposal of all guns would be option A. But just imagine the logistics of that one.... and im sure the "bad guys" would be the first in line to hand theirs over. The other is to embrace the second amendment and actually support its practice by not only law abiding citizens, but qualified ones. And this will require some budging on the part of the anti-registration from my cold dead hands crowd.

Optimally there should be a solution somewhere in the middle.... but honestly i have little faith that a common sense effective solution will ever be found.

Then I would go on and ask how many deaths and violent crimes have been committed with hands, feet, knives, and other objects.

Europe has just as much, if not MORE violent crime than the US.

How about we quit blaming an object and start holding people accountable and get them help. If I have said this once, i have said it a THOUSAND times.

Guns don't kill people... People kill people.

You and Trigger are flat out wrong. Of COURSE if gun ownership is outlawed, firearms deaths will go down. But does that really solve the problem? No, it doesn't. Take the U.K. for example. The U.K. is as much of a police state as you're going to get, yet, the violent crime rate is over 3 times higher in the U.K. than it is in the U.S. But yeah, let's ignore the facts for hyperbole, shall we?

Furthermore, ALL rifles, not just assault rifles, represent about 3 percent of gun murders in the United States. In fact, for example, in 2011, more people in the United States were murdered with knives, "hands or feet" or "clubs and hammers" individually than with any type of rifle. So why is there even a discussion about so called "assault rifles" again? Can someone remind me?

Finally, no one needs to justify a damned thing about owning firearms to anyone else in the United States. It's the right of every citizen to own firearms (with the exception of course of felons, etc.) So what the hell are we even talking about again?

The answer to this problem is hard hitting laws related to the use of a gun in the commission of a crime. I would recommend a minimum 10 year federal sentence with no chance for parole added to the sentence of anyone who uses a gun in the commission of a crime. That is the kind of thing that will stop the behavior we want to stop. If someone is crazy or evil and wants to mass murder people, I think we will all need to just admit that there will be no stopping that.
