Re: At least 5 reportedly stabbed on Lone Star College campus
never said that i'm saying you can kill dozens of people no matter what you use long as you know how to use it with a pencil stab someone in a vital organ its gonna have the same effect as a bullet as in damage to the organ and a bat swing it hard enough at the head that blunt force trauma will kill a person to hell get enough force behinde it a pencil is basicly an arrow/crossbow dart
if you know how to aim a gun you can kill dozens quickly and efficantly if you dont know how there's more then a good chance you will miss
thats why when people become cops /soilders / whatever requireing a gun they are TRAINED to use that TOOL(gun) efficiently
and i'm not sure maybe bruce can back me up on this your not just issued a knife your TRAINED how to use it EFFICIENTLY

Re: At least 5 reportedly stabbed on Lone Star College campus
The issue isn't that guns are more or less dangerous than a knife. They are supposed to be more efficient in their lethality. That's why they were created in the first place. If we could go back to fighting wars with knives, and swords, then the rate at which people die in those wars would go down (though that wouldn't keep people from dying). Knives, swords and sharp sticks have been used for several millenniums to adjudicate disagreements.
That's not the issue. The issue is that through legislation there is a very real chance, however small, to actually remove firearms from the hands of those who submit themselves to that law every day. There is absolutely ZEROchance to remove firearms from those who do not submit themselves to our laws. To think otherwise is also delusional.
There is no question that guns are more efficient at killing than nearly everything else, excluding bombs. However, with the proliferation of guns in this country, our unalienable rights under our constitution, and the fact that criminals are choosing to use guns to effect their heinous crimes, there is no realistic outcome to further gun control legislation. We've reached the limit on what we can realistically achieve with gun control laws.
Now we need to turn our attention to areas where we know we are lacking; mental health, the breakdown in the family unit, societal issues which promote these crimes, armed guards in schools, and sensational media coverage. These are all factors in school shootings. I'm reminded of one of my favorite movies, Full Metal Jacket, where gunnery sergeant Hartman finds an unlocked footlocker, and instead of blaming a potential thief, he says, "If it weren't for you, there wouldn't be any thieves in this world". So it begs the question, why aren't we arming our schools? We put armed guards in our banks to keep our money safe. Why are our children less important?
Can't we put to work the 48 million people on food stamps to work protecting schools? How would that be any less realistic than taking everyone's gun away?
We don't live on Wisteria Lane anymore. This world, this country, is far from perfect. There are evil people, with evil intentions making evil plans everywhere you look. And we choose to life in fairy tale land, in which prince charming and his black and white horse will come riding out nowhere to save us in the nick of time. We think if we disarm everyone, then no one will have anyway to harm you. Delusional doesn't even come close to describing this mentality. Christians are continually mocked for this kind of "Sheeple" behavior. Yet here, and now, when we want everyone to be sheep, it's the expect norm?
C'mon now... where's the indignation now?

I would just like to point out as a former bank employee....it's very rare to have armed guards in banks these days, unless you're talking about about very large ones, or perhaps ones in areas of high crime. I've lived in my area all my life (27 years now), I've yet to see an armed guard in a bank, and that's having worked for two different banking institutions.
