Re: Evolution, Genetics, and Resistant Viruses
This is why, despite the fact that I would like to believe in ghosts, and bigfoot, and other things I investigate occasionally, I am, in those circles, labeled as a debunker, disinformation specialist and other nasty names. Because the first thing I attempt to do is prove logical and rational explanations for something. So the "believers" get all bent out of shape when I walk in and go "no. Orbs are NOT ghosts dumbass. I can give you 50 reasons why your photos are junk and show nothing more than bugs and dust." Well... that and calling them a dumbass tends to get their hackles raised too.
Misinformed people need to be corrected or they spread their misinformation to others. Propagating false and flat out stupid ideas and information as fact should always be called out.

Your arguments are off course. We are debating a view if creationism, which is widley accepted in tge United States and on the planet Earth. We are not talking about misinformed anything. This is spiritual vs logical. Your opinion and desire to disprove religion, superstition, and myths is just as valid as mine to think this is a waste of time.
Are you saving animals from extinction? Are you saving babies from getting raped? No. Noot at all. You are argui.g with a bunch of bible beaters on an internet forum for PC gamers.
Don't act like you are fighting the good fight. Join the peace Corps, donate to science or charity, or simply continue to voice your opinion here on this forum. My guess is you will do the latter, as which so will I.

But calling the religious "misinformed" is somewhat insulting. It is the way they were raised. They dont want to be told why they are wrong the same as you dont want to be told why they are right. I know where I stand. I know what I will teach my children, but I walk with caution trying to change how others were raised and choose to live their spiritual lives.
That doesn't mean that I still don't think they are idiots. I just choose to keep it to myself and hope they do the same concerning my beliefs. Now politics... That is something completely different.

46% of Americans believe in creationism - that's a lot. And to believe in creationism takes a lack of understanding in the very basics of science, and an inability to differentiate between sound sources and scientifically unsound, or simply dishonest ones.
In U.S., 46% Hold Creationist View of Human Origins
Furthermore, treating science vs. myth as "spiritual vs. logical" as if they're two competing but equally productive philosophies, is disingenuous.
Your opinion and desire to disprove religion, superstition, and myths is just as valid as mine to think this is a waste of time.

You are 100% right! You didn't ask for it. But just as you have been speaking yours, which is 100% your right to do so, I also have mine. I never said I didn't like the discussion. I just said it was pointless.
Just as much as you think you are saving "endangered species" and "babies from rape" across the world by providing such profound intellect on a gaming forum, I think the discussion is a waste of time. And if you want to make a difference in the world, then go do it... quit pretending.
I think you also missed the part where I said you can continue chastising one another, because aside from me thinking it is a waste of time, that doesn't mean when I am reading the forums on my Kindle and taking a shit that I don't get amusement out of you all wasting your time. I mean, otherwise I would just be taking a shit. I thought that was the whole point of this forum... to amuse us while taking shits, right?

Re: Evolution, Genetics, and Resistant Viruses
I didnt realize people have a discussion was a waste of time. Maybe we should all resort to grunting again seeing as there is no point to having a discussion.
People who make these kinds of remarks crack me up. Theres no point to discussing it but heres what i have to say about it. Ranks right up there with i usually dont post in this section or i try to stay out of this area because... but never mind we already had one of those in here as well. Im just so glad that these people find the time to grace us with their opinion while looking down their nose at the rest of us. The best part is the ones that do this type of stuff are the same ones that complain about this section of the forums.
As to the topic at hand. The religious are misinformed but so is everyone else. Science is searching for the answer which will most likely never be concrete but religion has 0 intell and spreads it like its fact. Then when a solid question is posed the answer is always the same "It's fiath or it's belief". You cant have it both ways. If religion can not provide proof of god then they have no leg to stand on. Whats worse is if we truly can carbon date things accurately the bible has been blown out of the water. Not pieces of it, not some of it, but every bit of it is proven a falsification.
Now i say if carbon dating is accurate because as we all know nothing is 100% and science doesn't prove anything. Well at least thats what i've been told while reading articles on studies that "prove" this and that by their own wording. Both religion and science try to play both sides of the fence. Then they wonder why anyone would doubt what either of them have to say.
Now as to the op. There no doubt on evolution occurring. Not only have we seen it happen but we have made it happen. The only reason super viruses exist is because they had to evolve past what our treatment for destroying them was. If we had never created vaccines they would have probably evolved eventually but in the need to survive the process excelled. I can even give you a very good example AIDS. Its ability to evolve and mutate i would argue is unsurpassed by anything we know of or at least anything i can think of right now.
Whats arguable is whether or not us tempering with something to change is it evolution. I would say no but thats just my opinion. I also dont think us searching for ways to cross bread 2 very dangerous viruses is an evolution of a damn thing plus its a pretty retarded thing to do. Then to give the excuse of we need to create a solution to a problem that didnt exist until we started fucking with it shows an extreme lack of common sense. I know some of you will disagree with that but what i would like to see from those that do is a valid reason as to why its a good idea because we need medicine just in case it does happen isn't one.
Well thats my rant for the night.Last edited by deathgodusmc; 06-01-13 at 11:11 PM.
