The US government didn't assume that all US citizens were dangerous?

Re: Remember when...
Not sure I remember. It's been a while.
But you're right, things are heating up.
Damnit.

Re: Remember when...
My favorite excuse so far. "everyone should just calm down and understand this isnt anything thats brand new its been going on for some several years"
What a load of shit this is. We might as well start wiping our ass with the constitution because it doesn't mean shit any more.

It is not the job of the NSA to collect or analyze intelligence on American citizens within the USA. But here we are. I'm beginning to think that Al-Qadda may have lost the battle but is winning the war. We have changed our way of life and that was Bin Laden's goal. Not that 95% of Americans care. Too busy watching Honey Boo Boo I guess.

Nerds... They didn't include steam chat haha.
Seriously though, I always had the lingering suspicion we were all being watched to some degree. But to have it brought to the front line is really kind of eye opening. I think it's okay for Obama to claim ignorance initially, there's just so much going on he's not concerned with what Verizon customers are talking about. I imagine it to be similar to closing on your home, yeah you have the promissory note in its entirety in front of you but you just don't have the time to sit there and thoroughly read through it.
What we should be watching for now DG is how it will play out since it's in front of the media. It doesn't really matter who starts it to me, I imagine this is used to combat terrorism. Is this the price we have to pay to live in a 'safe' country? It would be good for big brother to show how this has helped prevent acts of terrorism.Last edited by Hocus Pocus; 06-07-13 at 07:20 AM.

Re: Remember when...
1. As long as the Federal Government profits from having a terrorist boogieman to worry about, there will always be a terrorist boogieman. Make of that comment what you will, but the bottom line is that saying " 'murika... turrorism" is a lame assed excuse for the massive assault on our civil liberties that is going on. We have spent something like 50 million dollars for every terrorist boogieman we have caught or killed in the war on terror. All this while Americans are far more likely to die from a slip and fall in the shower than from a terrorist attack. I'm not saying 9/11 was an inside job or anything like that, but one has to reason that something is rotten here.
2. I seem to recall that there was a pretty heated thread in the not so distant past where me and a few others were telling y'all about this shit, and we were all derided as idiots wearing tinfoil hats for even thinking that it would be happening. That "The technology doesn't exist to do that!" Not happy at being right, but damn people. If we don't learn and research for ourselves we are passively welcoming this kind of tyranny.
3. The light has been switched on, and now we see a couple of roaches. You know there are 100 times more hiding in the walls, right?
