Remember, regardless of how right they were in the end, the issue is whether they were in the right to begin with, by approaching that guy with the intent they clearly had in mind.

Kinda like, Fruits of the Poisonous Tree Doctrine.

They also said his house is over there. Im not defending him bumping music because i cant. Here its legal and i dont know where that is. If its cali though when i lived there its a ticket offense and not something you can be arrested for. Popping off at the mouth isn't something you can be arrested for unless you threaten someone. Odds are they fucked up pretty bad by making an illegal detention that resulted in the death of this animal. Which is going to cost them and i hope all 3 lose their job because obviously they didn't know what they needed to or thought they were above whats already in place.

Sooner or later police are going to have to figure out they have to play within the rules now. Hopefully it will be sooner because the longer it takes the more people will get rolled and the more money is going to be doled out to make up for them not figuring it out.

If I remember correctly you can be handcuffed without being "placed under arrest." Which in this case was not the brightest idea. To bad this happen. However, I don't understand why this didn't happen in return. Hopefully the video will pop-up. If not the link will.

Only if there is a threat to their safety which clearly is not the case in the video. That is wht you always refuse to go with. Make them follow thru with their abuse and arrest you.

Ok this one is abuse as well (can go either way though) but it is funny. At least the first minute is funny.

    Re: Cops gun down dog

I have watched this video a couple of times now... it is pretty gruesome.

As a dog owner and a lover of animals, it saddens me that the owner put his dog in this situation. It was a big dog, and could easily be taken as a threat. The video showed the dog approach the foot/leg of one of the officers, backing off, then lunging forward once more before a shot was fired. It was tragic, but it was the fault of the owner. Don't bring your animal into public if it can get loose and create fear/panic.

When I was a child, a neighbor's dog got in to our yard and killed our small dog right in front of me and my sister. I remember my father picking up the phone, calling the neighbor, and saying "Get your meat hound off of my property before I shoot it between the eyes". It was actually a nice dog, other than the fact it murdered our family dog, but the bottom line is that it is a dog. Dogs are not people. You cannot ask animals what they are thinking or what their intentions are. They just act and are often unpredictable. The officer did what was right.

    Re: Cops gun down dog

Oh, and I recall another topic here about some cops that raided a drug dealer house and killed 2 dogs, one of which was in a crate, and the other being a small Welsh Corgi (the type of dog I currently own). I was pretty upset about that because in that situation, there was no danger to the officer as the large dog was in a crate, and a Corgi is too small and cannot harm a full grown human.

There were people in here saying "more people die from small dog bites" and bla bla bla... It was nonsense back then and is nonsense now. The police should make judgement on the level of threat. Bigger dogs can do much more physical harm to a human, which is what these officers were trying to prevent.

Equality would be nice though. If I had done the same I would end up in jail most likely. No doubt I would have to spend $50k or more on defense once I was taken to court.

I remember that one as well. It was a suspected drug dealer, no drugs found, no arrests made, but killed the family dog that was in a cage. They were wrong then and they'll find out they were wrong this time.

Sad to watch. Initial reaction is to be mad at the cops. Second thought is to be mad at the owner for putting himself in a position for something to happen. Personally when something like that happens I don't like being upfront I'd rather catch it on the news but I guess it's his right . At the end of the day the dog loses. Could've been avoided several ways. We live in a sick world.
