Re: Welcome to our Post-Constitutional America.
Civil, thanks for letting us know. I think I have said nothing at all that would indicate a problem. I referenced my response to Trigger because of its content only and what I had posted in terms of links I included in lieu of posting the links over again. I can promise you, I intend and have only ever intended to have a rational discussion that is well within the parameters of the rules set out for this forum. I can only control what I say and how I say it, but no pre-emptive strike or whatever was needed for my part.
That said I hope we can discuss this issue because I think it's a very important one.

Police can not use dogs to institute probable cause.. It is an illegal practice and has been ruled that way. If they search because a dog sniffed it would be considered an illegal search.

Re: Welcome to our Post-Constitutional America.
The problem is, as long as people in leadership positions from the POTUS right down to the local sheriff continue discounting civil liberties in the name of public safety, it will not stop. As people slowly become comfortable with the notion that reduced liberty will keep them warm and safe, there will be no changes, only outrage from a few who get the big picture and understand the the Government can NEVER guarantee safety at any price.

Re: Welcome to our Post-Constitutional America.
I think civil disobedience with regard to these types of violations will only work if everyone or the vast majority of people do it. Here's some more info specifically on DHS and their training on who the threat to America is:
DHS & Local Police Trained to View Constitutionalists as Domestic Terrorists - Susanne Posel | Susanne Posel
Here's a video that reveals the kind of training that FEMA/DHS is giving to local police organizations and the views they have themselves:
So yes, these local cops are being trained that if you roll your window down halfways and peacefully defend your constitutional rights, you are a potential terrorist. Also, if you're a veteran apparently you are a potential terrorist too, according to big sis and DHS:

Re: Welcome to our Post-Constitutional America.
If you search previous posts you will know how I feel about the DHS conspiracy stuff (It is BS). So I will leave that be.
As far as the guy in the video I don't see him as a punk at all. He was actually very polite and came off as nervous if anything. there are a lot of videos of people being jerky to police... but this is not one of them. It wasn't done to antagonize the police because he was forced to stay there, he asked if he was detained and wanted to leave. Unfortunately valuing your free time and privacy is a suspicious activity.
I have personal experience of being profiled and stopped by the police and because I opened my big mouth it led to a lot of wasted time (There was no crime committed not even a minor traffic violation). I also have a separate incident I was involved in where there was an illegal police stop made that resulted in an acquaintance getting arrested for a real crime he committed. All charges were dropped because the stop was illegal and they tried very hard to get me to do something illegal when I told them several times I wouldn't do it (yes you read that right). Essentially trying to entrap me. It was a really stupid situation for everyone involved.
Even with my personal experiences I still believe that this sort of stuff in an anomaly. Thankfully stories like this are a big deal because that sort of stuff doesn't happen a lot. Most police are polite public servants. There are not multi-million hit youtube videos of a guy rolling down his window only 1/5 of the way, the officer asking him to roll it down, driver declining and the officer just leaving it be.
With all that said drug dogs and police checkpoints are BS. I do believe in my time most if not all use of them will either become unconstitutional or go the way of the polygraph (inadmissible in court).
