Because the following:
"...bullshit that comes right out of the Muslim playbook that discounts the miracles Christ performed..."
Isn't a "hit job" or a comment so deeply rooted in the "I'm right and what I was taught and believe is right" forest that you can't see the simple fact that you're basically arguing a centuries old (millenia really at this point) he said she said, ergo, the trees.....
I'm through with this topic though - it might cause me to break out the more flowery words and language and I actually don't have time to further the millionth pointless iteration of a dead (and quite frankly hackneyed) argument over which dead book written by dead men about other dead men demanding all other men (dead or otherwise) follow their instructions to the finely pointed (yet totally interpreted) "T".
How many licks does it take to get to the center?
It's quite funny that a cartoon owl who asks a factual question and yet then takes a completely arbitrary action/ruling/judgement could have such an interesting parallel on the various religions that Man has found himself in over the centuries.
Enjoy the merry-go-round folks. I hear the carny still has tickets to sell. Everyone looking for a ride is sure to get their turn

Laz, Azlan may not believe in Christ's "divinity" as a scholar, but he clearly did believe on a personal level at some point in the past. All that aside, how in the fuck is anyone going to write a scholarly book on "miracles" performed 2000+ years ago? You can't. So instead, what a scholar would do is write based upon the information that was available....which appears to be what Azlan did. Also, in his interview he stated that there are differences between what Muslim's typically believe and what he states in the book. He gives two, though I only distinctly remember one....in that Muslim's apparently do believe in the virgin birth, but that he had scholarly doubts. I think the other was that the Muslims do not believe Jesus was crucified, while Azlan stated that the majority of historical records (and his book) agree that he was.
That being said, my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt, because I have not read the book (or even heard of it, before this thread). However, now I'm curious and there's a good chance it will be one of the next books I read.

Well it's more than just faith that should drive your belief in Christ. That he was a real person in history and there are historical accounts of him and his teachings should give any believer strength. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I'm going to convince someone who has renounced God and mocks those who believe in Him to change, but I also won't abide by someone lying about what scripture says or what Jesus himself said or did either, as a matter of history or faith. Because Civil, you never know who might be reading this but not commenting. If only a mocking non-believer's side is adequately represented then we have both failed, you and I.

I just have one question for you. How many people did Jesus win over by insulting or arguing with them? Based on my readings none, but for you that seems to be your go to tactic around here. Bottom line is you don't get it, and based on past experience no matter how many people try to explain it to you you will never get it.
