Re: Still think Sarah Palin is an idiot? Well, maybe not so much...
I may not agree with their view, but I DO understand. I understand the idyllic view of certain parts of our past, of apple pie and baseball....but times are always changing, and to survive one has to roll with the punches, so to speak. Just because something worked 30 or 50 or 200 years ago doesn't mean it would work today....and unfortunately our Constitution is always WAY behind the times in terms of keeping up with the modern world. So are a huge portion of laws as well. Our government (and lawmakers over the years) just haven't been very good at adapting to changes in the world....but that doesn't mean they should stop trying. And ultimately, that's what I don't agree with when it comes to the Constitutionalists, because you can never make things the way they were before. Those times are gone, and going back to how things were done back then, to me at least, would feel like the proverbial one step forward but two steps back.

And where i differ from both points of view is that i think the Constitution is entirely adaptable to modern times. Sure it seems way behind, but we live in a world of instant gratification. I'm glad we have the Constitution to slow us down and force us to do it right, whatever the cause may be.
