An interesting thought exercise - redrawing the states
Check it out - this is a work of art rather than a solid proposal from anyone. Still very interesting.
Electoral college reform (fifty states with equal population) / fake is the new realSmokenScion liked this post

Re: An interesting thought exercise - redrawing the states
The next step in this exercise would be to take the vote information for each county and assign it to their new 'state' and see what type of difference it would make in the electoral college - his stated purpose for drawing the map - over the last few election cycles.

That's pretty cool. I think that most would agree that some sort of reform is needed, I doubt anything of this magnitude will ever happen, as logical as it appears on the surface. You can definitely see where the under populated areas are on this map though.

Everything is bigger in Shiprock.
Cool idea. Think of all the new sports jerseys that would be sold. If we can get Big Sports behind it, it just may happen.
Interesting to see the country drawn up by population, though. A different way of looking at it.

Re: An interesting thought exercise - redrawing the states
From looking at it closer, and his explanation, I think the most useful part of the map would be the redrawn Congressional districts. I was not aware that the range of population covered by the various congressional districts was so large - 528,000 to 924,000. Need to look into those numbers further - I thought each seat represented approximately 700,000, I know that the average gets thrown off by the constitutional guarantee of 1 Rep for the tiny states but that doesn't entirely explain it.
